Hey guys. I’ll be down in Raleigh next week anyone wheeling Uwharrie? Wouldn’t mind getting out there for a day of hiking or whatever being only 1.5 hours away. Anything thing else I should try and hit while I’m down there?

 

Finally got the tire on the back. Figured out the issue. May stil well bolts on down the road.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, URE offroad trails are closed til april.

 

No worries bud thanks for the heads up. I breezed through some of the website but I was also assuming it might be pointless to wheel somewhere without knowing the Aly of the land. Appreciate the info!

 

URE is a good place to wheel, with a good map so you won't get lost. There's nothing too hard except for Daniel and even that you can run up the backside and sit and watch a show of rednecks. Unfortunately there's nothing else that's legal in the central part of the state, you gotta go off to the beach (Freeman Park/fort fisher) or off towards the mountains in the National Forest areas.

Couple decent options in the Asheville area. Couple trails in the Boone area. The there’s Uwharrie. Outside that, you’re sol in this state.

Welcome to the area! Really not much hiking in the eastern part of the state. As far as I’m aware the closest hiking to Raleigh is mile marker 100 off I-40 that will put you close to Linville Gorge.

 

Right on appreciated! My uncle is down there so we are road tripping. Never been to the “middle” of NC. Typically S Turns and nags head area on some quick weekend surf trips. Alright guys, cheers thanks for the insight

 

There are some trails around here for hiking, they just kinda get lost with the city living. @bski22 Check out Eno state park, Umstead park, Falls Lake(mountains to sea trail), and then there's lots of Greenways.

When I’m on trail my goal is to get far enough away that I’d be screwed if anything went sideways lol
