Got our mallards today - they’re migrating hard in central MO. Still lots of pintail but not a lot of teal left in the area. Out again next Monday. Doesn’t looks like we’ll be breaking heavy ice yet, though there was skim ice this morning.

Been slow here in KY. Got skunked yesterday on the opener. Killed a mixed bag this morning: 3 mallards, 1 Canada, 2 Fox Squirrel and 2 Rabbits :luvya:

Watched ~100 pass our spread up tonight and get down across the road at a different farm, feed for 30 minutes, then get back up and go to roost.

It was an awesome sunset though. Back at it tomorrow.

Commander 120 kayak and the yak gear ambush blind. The blind will fit up to 14’ yaks and will definitely fit wider kayaks. I’m debating getting a peddle Drive yak

    Thanks!

I've been shooting squirrels lol. I'll take a merganser at this point. Hopefully this weekend's snow gets us right again.

    Is hunting over down south?

Here it is for me sincea while now, and was bored so I made my own duckcall lanyard, following a youtube video. Turned out pretty good!

Yep, most states here in the south general season ended the last weekend or so in January.
Ended up my season with being a part of 180 ducks being shot so not a bad year at all.

Yep, it’s all about putting the miles on the truck. And the numbers don’t matter, as long as you had a good time.

Waterfowl numbers in Texas were very depressing with the survey in January. Total numbers down 50% and 76% decline on the coast from last year. Lack of rice and more urbanization are huge contributors to the decline :( snow geese are down 90% from 10-20 years ago as well

Goose closes tomorrow for KY. Duck has been closed since the end of January. We had a great year. I don't have the exact numbers because my buddy keeps up with them but we are around 240 local birds and close to 500 birds including trips to North Dakota.

    Edit: I'm a liar

    Local birds:
    Duck 93
    Geese 121
    Snows 10

    Out of state birds:
    Mixed ducks 195
    --------------------
    Total: 419

Do y'all freelance to ND or use guides? Our group is thinking about heading to ND this year.

I wasn't able to go but yes they did freelance. I gathered from those that went if you got a guide you were wasting money. Plenty of birds and places to hunt.

They hunt mostly public land or get permission from farmers?
