Yes and the list I've posted is basically way points. We're gonna go to these areas and find a place to camp. I've ordered like a back road book that's got a whole bunch of the Blms and such. I'm still developing the route and gathering Intel for the trip. I've also gotta bunch of stuff to do to my truck. Like straighten and reinforce my skids lol

Get a DeLorme Gazetteer for each state, very nice resource.

What kind of tires do you guys run.

Recently got a set of stt pros put on but they seem to be wearing rather quickly. I travel 200+ miles a week and just hate to buy another set of mts. I'm in the mud a bit but I feel like a mild at tire would fair decent in the type of area it is.

Been thinking of just getting cheap mts with good reviews, like Hercules trail digger.

Or take a step down to a hybrid like the st maxx.

Do you know of the tread life? Know of a guy in high school that wheeled with me but he didn't care about his truck and they didn't last long at all. But his alignment was way out of wack.

I’m at about 8000 miles on my ST Maxx with no appreciable wear noticed.

Just over 20,000 miles on mine with five tire rotation and heaps of tread and performance left. I can go measure but I doubt I’ve lost much tread at all. Perform well in mud considering how heavy my Tacoma is. On my lighter LandCruiser that are seemingly unstoppable. Absolutely love my S/T Maxx tires and will continue to buy them until they stop making them and replace them with something else.

I've thought about trying duratracs, maybe the thin sidewall would help with my light 1st gen. Right now the thick carcass on the stt pros seem to be stiff. Every bump in the road feels like a pothole

It could also be my 650lb coilovers?

What kind of areas are you in?

I'm more of a fire road, dirt road, and the occasional wooded trail with some rocks

And I'm on 18s so anything but load e is out of the question

If you do a lot of driving get the St Maxx.
There not a step down they’re a step up.
Got about 70k out of my first set and got a good deal on my second, first set still had tread life.

    Ask about them here

I get flack everytime I say this but I'm still gonna say it. I run 315/75R16 bfg ko2 this is my 3rd year on them and they've seen about 50k km so like a little of 30k miles and have a ton of life left on them. I throw everything at them. I have thought about switching it up but I've had such great success I'm reluctant to change

From my last trip saw a bunch of everything that weekend close to a foot of fresh pow on some parts and the usual muck and rocks
    IMG_20171008_210716_386_1f2188da58a25b68c39120e99e12318126cf0cca.jpg

They're very much a love hate thing guys either love them or want to burn the bfg factory down

This is very true. Some people hate on other tires and push the tires they like. I’d say stick with what works for you.

The RT are good tires. Had them on our dodge sold it at 30k miles and still had 20k? left on them.

All the Toyo tires I have ran have lasted longer then I thought they would. First set of MT's I ran on my last taco lasted for 50k.

    Food for thought. GL

I've run the Toyo MTS for 2.5 years now. They are LT255/85/R16 load E, ~61 lbs each, maximum traction, heavy duty tire. I've been very happy with them.

I feel this pain so hard. I'm probably gonna ditch my steel wheels and look at some driveline and gearing options. Unfortunately my local trails need all the steel thats on my truck

I have Hankook Dynapro ATMs on my truck and they're only 39 pounds each in 265/70/17 (p-rated). I've been very impressed with them and about 55k miles on them now with a lot of life left. The only problem is they only offer them in E-rating when you go up to 285s.
