You seem angry...easy now...just clam down, a man of your age is susceptible to a heart attack. We are just bullshitting about dumb trucks here wouldn't take any of this too seriously. That post wasn't for you anyways, was bullshitting with physcle and that beyonce fella. And I am the troll... ummm, ok...

Ok HiLux is out...even though they look awfully cool. Damn you! Had high hopes for that, but since you said it is junk...guess I will have to follow your sage advice. Would it still be underpowered with an LS swap and ride like a wagon with linked suspension? :p

orrrrrrr......"What if"....I boxed the rest of the frame on the 1st gen and drop in a LS, manual valve body 4L80, and do a full roll cage, a new head unit with blue tooth, video screen, with a bunch of apps and a back up camera. Long travel the front and link the rear, what then? Think it could beat a 3rd Gen? :D

Well to honest...a pegasus is more practical. Why ride when you can fly, ya know? Cut the work commute by at least 75%...

...and before you say what about a Pegasus-Unicorn? We all know those hybrids are illegal to import here.

After the passing of Michael Jackson...sadly I stopped believing. Thought he found the fountain of youth and was immortal. Though I suspected it was a ruse, since it turns you into a young white woman.

(prolly going out on limb with that joke...I suspect it might bomb in this crowd) :D

I ride bikes too... mountain bikes lol. Not too worried about a heart attack as I rode 1200 miles of single Track in the 2017 season and am going for 1500 this year. None of this is serious. They are trucks... nothing more nothing less. It's also fine to want an old vehicle, just realize what it is and don't pretend that it is in any shape, way or form better in any way than a modern vehicle. You like Ford right? Look at the old "Bullit" versus the new "Bullit." The new one will wipe up the street with the old one. The old one is cool as hell tho.

You can mod the shit out of an old Hilux and what will you have? An unreliable old modded Hilux, because by nodding it as you described above, you took all the reliability out of it. Yes, it will then beat the 3rd gen... until it broke. Unless you own the company ICON then your modded Hilux will be worse, not better.
Again, good luck man. I have no animosity towards you at all. But don't keep lying to yourself (and others) about how good the old stuff was. It's not compared to vehicles of today.

This thread is meaningless and full of contradictions. The 3rd Gen is both the very, very best, and the absolute fucking worst truck Toyota ever created, all at once.

To give this 25 pages of nonsense some worth, check out a young Waylon Jennings ripping it up on his telecaster. I’m not even a fan of country music, but this shit is legit. Back in the day he was one of the few Nashville stars who refused to lip-sync, and insisted on playing his own guitar. That got him labelled “the outlaw” (this link is as relevant as the last 25 pages):

Ok...ok...you seemed a little upset, and started calling me a troll. I might get hurt at such remarks if I was in my 20's. Tank gawd I am middle-aged and have thick skin.

Cool, I used to ride mountain bikes...and did some amateur XC, downhill, and 24hr racing. Nothing too serious just trying to kill ourselves. Used to ride our brains out...train with roadie bikes doing BS centuries and all that crap, ex-wife was a Tri-Geek... but got burned out, and sold most of it and now just down a Voodoo single speed and a couple Dyno beach cruisers. The dirt scooter has pretty much taken over.

Oh you know I was just teasing. The new stuff is leaps and bounds better than the old, well the really old.

But how cool is this? Pretty much a dream machine, 80's chassis, with a LC 70 Ute body....deezul....

I can sorta understand how something can be best... and worst. Here is a quick story:
I was listening to some of my son's friends who were at the house not too long ago. We were all sitting around, talking about vehicles. Well, this one young man is just fixated on Jeeps. Old Jeeps. He was going on about the old big Wagoneers, talking about how cool the old quadra-trac was and how good the 360 cube engine is. He is going to buy one and fix it up he says. My head snapped around as i shook it in disbelief.
In 1983 I had a late 70's Jeep Cherokee Chief. It was four years old with 25K miles when I bought it. Had the 360. It was pretty bad rusted when I bought it and my "plan" was to fix it up in the spring. Well, I had a few problems with it that winter. The damn thing was rusting at a pace where you could actually see it rusting right before your eyes. By the end of winter I had to put a piece of plywood in the floor below the brake pedal. The floor was gone that quickly. That wasn't the bad part... The thing would backfire at random times. Sometimes it would catch on fire through the carb, sometimes it would backfire so hard it would just stop the engine with no fire. It happened enough that one time, I took a girl on a date in It and as I gave it the gas from a stop light, it shuddered, stalled and backfired so loud it caused a ringing in my ears for a few days. I coasted it to the side of the road and stopped, carefully placing my heel on the plywood floor beneath the brake. The girl said suddenly "Is that smoke coming underneath the hood?" I said yeah, and calmly reached behind my seat, took out my special blanket, opened the hood, flames leapt out, the girl screamed and i put out the fire with my blanket. I shut the hood, put the smoldering smoking blanket back behind the seat, started it up and drove on to the movies.

I spent a lot of money buying that Jeep. I had big plans for it. It rusted so bad in that one winter that I could only sell it to the local junkyard for a parts vehicle that spring.

So, to that kid, that Jeep was the coolest best vehicle ever. To me, that piece of shit cost me my savings and hair still won't grow on part of my arm from all the fires I had to put out with that thing. Worst vehicle ever.

I'm thoroughly impressed by how shiny your tires are. Every time I go to the self-serve car wash I probably use $50 of tire cleaner and the best I can do is make them look black instead of grey.
    Awesome looking truck man!

That is great story! We had an early Wagoneer Cherokee Chief that my dad bought new, biggest POS...it over heated all the time, one winter it left us stranded on the way to go cross country skiing. never forget that trip...had ice storm the night before...winter wonderland, absolutely beautiful. Even being stranded it was amazing.

I was 12 or 13 driving it around the property, not paying attention..got too close the split-rail fence and dragged a post down the side of it...mom was pissed to say the least. I tried backing it up away from it but only made it worse, had to dig out the post to get it free.
