    "Windows: front/rear/sides"

Side windows are not an option AFAIK.

    @wileydavis

With the heater in the lower, are you assuming the heat will radiate through the floor to help heat the tent or do you guys have something clever planned to duct the heat to the upper? I suppose that you could just remove the 25" panel, but that makes sleeping two more interesting.

Stopped in at the hatchey today to get a tablet mount fixed, turns out i had a weird knob on the tablet mount. Thanks to Wiley and Adrienne for fixing that up, i thought for the longest time this was normal and that I couldnt adjust it.

Also managed to get a tour of the camper. For a prototype canopy, this is a million times better built/thought out then anything currently on the market. It is refreshing to see a team with an actual design background making items for the community. From an engineer to the GFC team, my hat is off to you for taking on this project and bringing it to life.

All of my concerns with the camper have been addressed. The only addition I’d like to see is a positive pressure system to keep the dust to a minimum. Although from the looks of things, the bed of his truck faired well with dust intrusion on his trip to Baja which still hadn't been cleared out.

From talks with Wiley there is a lof of great plans coming out for this shell and other items. Its not my place to disclose what their plans are, i’ll leave that up to them to notify the community. They are certainly going to be a serious contender on the market for peoples money, especially at the price point they are introducing this at.

As someone whom was originally skeptical about this and thought of it as just another Habitat, I can honestly admit I was wrong, and am truly excited to see where this goes! I’m envisioning a huge increase in orders for them once these start to be delivered and seen in the wild.

Sigh, now to to sell my 4wk old alucab canopy :(, you can count me in on this!

    Steve

Order number 62 here, I just arrived home from a week in the Keys, and during my time there I remembered how much I don’t like biting insects. I’m sure i missed it, but will the tent and screen portion feature “no-see-um” netting common to tents. Those little bastards left me with a few good bites. Thanks in advance!! Super excited for this new home on wheels.

Yep, the window/door mesh is a no-see-em variety.

That will be subject to testing. If it turns out to be needed I have a plan for getting warm air through the floor.

It's entirely possible I missed it, but as it wasn't included in @DoorDing 's extremely thorough FAQ post, probably not.

Can you post a picture of how the extrusions orient as assembled on the tent, and in the closed position? I am assuming based on other pictures that the right side of the top extrusion fits up to the left end of the bottom extrusion.

Also, what are the C shaped channels for? They look like they would be inaccessible once the frame is assembled? ...edit, nvm, they are for the end caps/hinges/corners to thread/screw into. Answered my own question as I looked at it.

It doesn’t excite me too much but it’s a fairly lightweight and compact solution for coverage off the back of the truck.

I trust your refering to the canopy when you mention whipping your thing out. ;)

Getting super pumped for this. Have my funds ready to go as soon as I get the invoice.

Is there really no tucking of tent fabric required when closing?

For closing, I believe you haul the roof down with the fabric and tuck it in or that was my understanding. Fabric was out of the tent when i was there. I’d of thought a 1”webbin grab handle or something would have been a more elegant solution.

Wiley said it wasnt an issue and the new fabric will be a lot tougher. I like it, simple and effective

The whole thing can be closed by one person without leaving the tailgate. You pull the tent down at the natural fold line of the fabric so the motion of pulling down is also the tuck. At the front near the hinges there are two carbon rods and elastic cord that fold the fabric neatly into the tent. The whole process takes literally 5 seconds. The lid locks closed with two Delrin pins built into the tubular grab bar at the back.
