Oh I always have stacks of papers and receipts to gather. And then I have to pull a mileage report to claim what I don't get compensated for

 

All this talk of taxes... anybody in the Boston area use a "tax guy" ?

Typically I've always just used turbo tax for whatever the cheap/free option is... but it was kind of a big year for us --- married, paid relocation, wife's company was bought out so lots of stock vested/sold and what not...

I could probably still use turbo tax and just pay close attention to all the questions, but seems like of any years to pay for a tax person this would be the year

I use a guy in Pawtucket. He always helps keep the pain to a minimum. I'm a mass resident

 

I'm always up for hanging out & maybe it would teach me something for when I need to do my own

 

I've gone to H&R Block before, and they did a pretty good job. I think that should be good enough unless you've really got some crazy situation.

 

Cool! I have to wait to actually get it first, and then figure out when Drew can do it, so we can plan something out. I'll keep you posted though, on here.

 

Now that could definitely be a better way to use my money

Might just try Turbo Tax since it doesnt cost anything before you file, just takes some time...

Figured I throw it out there though to see if someone had a good reasonable tax person nearby.

 

Just use TurboTax imo. Take a few minutes and read through all the prompts and you'll be fine. We did H&R block 1 year cause turbo tax was not calculating taxes/ refunds correctly ( we both has multiple w2s from different states due to travelling for work) and turbo tax was not able to correctly take it into account for some reason. Went to h&r block and all they do is use their own version of turbo tax and plug info in like a monkey. Granted they were able to get it to correctly calculate everything,but the next year TurboTax fixed the issue and we went right back to using it.

IMO no reason to pay someone to input info into TurboTax for you when you can do it yourself.

The other nice thing is TurboTax pulls all your last years info automatically.

I might be in for some SOS goodies to round out my protection. Waiting for my return, debating stealth bumper versus full bumper and regular versus HC rear. Also in the running is a Brute Force Fab set of bumpers.

 

That stealth vs full debate has been going through my head for sometime now... changes practically weekly hahaha

 

In my experience hr block is very over priced. How complicated are your taxes? Mine are a pain so I can't turbo tax mine

 

Thats what I figured about HR block... if Im gonna pay someone Id rather pay a local person that came recommended.

Not really sure... they have always been super simple for myself.. but as I said we had a lot of big things happen this year...

Kinda leaning toward just trying turbo tax to see how it works, if it looks to be a huge pain or comes out wonky Ill find someone
