I picked my set up today from my local dealer (ordered last Friday). I opened the box at the parts counter and was blown away at how massive these front shocks are. Pictures on the forum don't do them justice. They are built beefy as well. I am so impressed with these and what a value we are all getting at this low price. Not sure when I will install them. I'm Still debating with myself on doing the ecgs bearing at time of install. I fear getting the vibrations if I don't do it. I would like to read what everyone else is doing to lift the rear end also. I only have the factory trifold tonneau cover for weight. I want to keep a nice ride. Open to all suggestions. Thanks.

For all those on the fence about what to install for rear lift and what to do about possible problems (vibrations, etc.), here’s my plan assuming all my parts arrive in time. Please take this approach with a grain of salt as I am no suspension expert, nor do I claim to be.

I plan to install this Pro kit with the Headstrong 3 leaf progressive AAL (undecided on overload in/out) and the ECGS bushing replacement (might as well while you’ve got the drivers front apart), and lastly leaf pack center pin extenders (makes the installation of axle shims much easier later if they are needed due to vibes/driveline angle correction).

Optional items I’ve ordered that may/may not be installed:
-HS 1/4” top plate spacers that I will throw in if I decide to keep the rear factory OL leaf in. If I leave the OL out, the spacers will not be installed either.
-Carrier bearing spacer kit that will be installed if needed to correct driveline angles and any possible post lift vibrations.
-If I still have vibes or require driveline angle correction that cannot be resolved with the CB spacer kit, I will order and install axle shims in the needed size. If I don’t need shims, the installed and unnecessary center pin extensions were only $10.

At this point I am not plannning to, or anticipating the need to, replace my factory front/rear bump stops or brake lines. By no means am I stating that these parts do or do not need to be replaced when installing the Pro suspension kit. I am saying for my intended use of my truck, I do not foresee those parts warranting replacement at this time.

    Good luck everyone!

Really like this plan. I always aim a little higher than necessary on these sorts of things as well. Replacing bushings while you're in there makes sense to me.

I'll be super curious to hear how you end liking this arrangement.

Thing is, I use the bags to bump up an inch and it makes the ride stiff as hell. Wouldn't using the aal with ol out provide about 1.5" lift and a better ride?

Also, my rear leafs have 85k on them, you think they would have sagged at least 1"? So i will probably be gaining like 3/4 or so. They are the 2013 3+1 leafs.

I've been thinking about an uca too. With my Billys set at 1.75, I can't quite hit the #'s I want on my alignment and my tires have that slight lean out at the top, drives me nuts. I'm still within spec, but not at 0 like I'd like.

That Thompson site has this in fine print. Wonder if they consider this oversize and charge you for shipping later? Anybody email them?

"All orders must have a valid Home or Business address. We do not ship to P.O. Boxes. Oversize items and Heavy Weight items, including but not limited to bumper components, body panels, engines, transmissions, require extra shipping charges; please email us for a quote before ordering. Please be specific as to what you want to have shipped and have the complete address to which it will be shipped. These items are necessary to give an accurate quote for shipping costs. If the actual shipping charges are more than what was calculated at checkout, you will be charged the additional shipping charges. "

I read that too. I'm curious what happens. I guess if it's less than like $160 then it's still in line with what everyone else is paying. I'll be sure to update this thread with any information.

I have a cap and prinsu and I am still going with the dakars. Putting a aal on the squeaky weak stock springs isn't exactly a recipe for success either. Leafs usually squeak. Do nothing, they squeak. Do anything, they squeak. Who knows what will happen. I am thinking about using the stock bushings instead of the polyurethane ones in the kit though. I read on here that they fit (has to be true....) Polyurethane tends to squeak. I also saw bolts that were greaseble so that may be an option as well. I currently have no squeaks and would like to maintain that.

I went ahead and emailed them. I'll let y'all know what they say. I cancelled my Conicelli order, but OEMpartsworld is on its way.

I'm still really considering buying a backup, for when these wear out. Is that crazy? I'm putting like 25-30k a year on this truck. Pair of replacement 5160's for the back are almost $400, thats before shipping and any tax. So almost getting to the same price before you hit the front.

What kinda life could you expect on these?

Thanks for you feedback. I like what your doing. I just ordered the parts and install tools from ECGS. Now I will focus on the rear AAL.

Has anyone installed a AAL with the kit yet? I’m ready to pull the trigger but I’m not a fan of the nose high look and want to make sure it can be fixed.

My 2012 w/factory baja shocks has 94k miles and they are still fine. At this price I am thinking about buying a new set for my truck and installing my old ones on wifes 04 4runner.

And my older 2g saggin springs should be even worse. I wonder how much my bags have negated the sag, if at all. Maybe i will go let the air out of them at lunch and see. Think i will need the AAL, not sure i want to keep bumping it up with the bags. Should be softer ride with lift from aal, but nothing to go off on that. Guess i could always remove the aal and go back to just bags.

10-4. I'm sitting almost 1 1/4" higher in the rear right now on a 2017 Offroad so I'm holding out hope I end up sitting about level

I think your good. I went ahead and called and he said around $100 to ship to me in OK from MD where Thompson is located. That made it more expensive than my other order, by about $20, from Conicelli. He also said they would have to get from a warehouse in CA. So CA to MD, back to OK. o_O

Sweet, maybe i dont need a backup after all. That would put me at 180k, by the time i get around to getting everything together and on there. Still ride good?

I believe you might have fit issues with the Tacoma vs 4Runner shocks. There's a thread around here where someone couldn't fit a Pro 4runner shock into a Tacoma. Additionally, I think the Tacoma Pro shocks are longer than the runners.
