Pretty sure they can fail you for lighting if they want to.

Yeah I've heard this both ways. So it may be a case that I go in and if they fail me I remove all my lights then go in again. Who knows.

I've got covers for the light bar on top, and if I add lights to the center hoop of the bumper they will have covers. The fog lights just have a transparent amber shield though.

You might be ok with the Fogs since they are more part of the bumper, and technically these trucks did come with a fog option.

I hope so, but these dual KC flex don't look like stock fogs, and definitely don't look street legal when you turn them on! haha

I would think fog lights should't be a problem. Our trucks and many other vehicles come with them installed from the factory. I have aftermarket LED fogs in an aftermarket front bumper and was fine back in November. Then again it all comes down to who is doing the inspection.

This is definitely good info to keep in mind for future plans, ie make sure everything can be disconnected wiring wise... planning on mounting a rear facing dust light on the cap when ever I get around to making my own "prinsu" styled rack.

I wouldnt think that any inspection place with some brains would reach in and flip all your switches. Like uhhhh no, just because that button has a pretty light doesnt mean i use it all the time why should that have anything to do with me passing a standard Mass inspection. Smh this state. Plus who are they to say that those are fog lights if i installed them myself? I am just gonna turn em off and see if they say anything :notsure: As for my headlights, everything is SAE compliant and the bulbs are still halogen so they technically are not even LED's.

Does anybody have an experience with how inspectors are treating repaired frames? I had the area around the leaf spring hangers repaired by professionals a few years ago, but was never very good about staying current with my inspection sticker :) so an inspector never looked at it. Right before the cameras went into effect I finally went in to get an inspection, and the inspector called it an illegal repair and also pointed out other areas on the frame that had since gotten worse. It was the first thing he looked at, so he didn't charge me money or put on a rejection sticker. I'm getting the other areas repaired so basically the entire frame rails from rear to front tire will be all new metal. I think the inspector was misinformed in calling the repair that was there illegal, though he was correct that the frame shouldn't have passed because of the other areas that weren't fixed. Anybody here been rejected for a bad frame or a repaired frame, or have any knowledge about what the official ruling is on repaired frames?

I will say this about the inspection, it certainly was a wake up call to be more proactive about applying corrosion protection.

As well, if anybody has a recommendation on an inspection station that isn't going to be ultra strict about everything, feel free to shoot me a PM. I'm in SE Mass. Thanks...

No, I missed the cutoff date for Toyota's initial inspection (was super busy at the time). Toyota is completely inflexible about helping if you missed the cutoff.

Sorry to say i think you are shit outta luck dude. Its a repaired frame, if it doesnt fit the inspectors bill for a good repair then he can just reject it.

What I'm really trying to find out is what is the bill for good repair. There must be a some sort of objective standard that the inspector can evaluate the frame against to say whether it passes or not. I wouldn't think a standard would say that absolutely no frame repair is allowed, that is not reasonable. If there is no standard then it is just a wild-ass crapshoot whether your repaired frame is going to pass or not, depending on which inspector you go to.

So MA CMR 540 4.04-12E has this to say about frames:

    "A Certificate of Rejection shall
be issued if any of the following conditions are evident:
    ...
    E. Frame or Unibody. Broken, cracked, modified or rusted structural parts of the
undercarriage or unibody so as to cause a hazard or structural weakness."

If that is specific as it gets then it is a wild-ass crapshoot...
