Thanks for confirming my memory isn't completely shot! Brian had mentioned he was interested to get a first hand look at their product and they showed up saying they were working on it.

Yes, the American distributor for Harrop lockers contacted me. I tried calling his shop a couple times and could never reach anyone. I didn't have my 4runner for a while so I lost interest. The design looks solid. My guess is it would have worked out better if i was an actual business rather than someone who installs gears on the side.

Gotcha yea makes sense! Worth keeping an eye on than. Been thinking about regearing and if i am going to do it might as well add a front locker.

I was watching that as well hoping you would get somewhere with them. Apparently there are no discounts anywhere and $1400 for just the locker is a hard number to swallow. We shall see, I am so far up in the air with what vehicle to mod. Thinking about keeping the current truck or getting a 3rd gen 4runner or a Gx470. Just want to make sure I have the best platform to start with before I throw a lot of money into it because I know I will never get that money back. Want the expo rig to last me a long time.

If you are making a switch I would go 4th gen 4runner or GX. You would be taking a step back in power and size going to 3rd gens. My 4th gen has lots of room for the kids. With a 3rd gen 4runner you would be better off keeping your 2nd gen Tacoma.

4th gen 4runners can be had for less than 5k these days. Very close to 3rd gen cost

If I didn't find such a deal on my tires I was going to take advantage of those sales and 0% interest

Cool thanks, what's your thoughts on the v6 vs v8? On the v8 03-04 vs 05 and newer?

    What’s your thoughts on a 255/80-17 on a 17x8.5 rim?

Tire rack says it’s the widest rim it can run.

If I was really being picky I would avoid the 2003 and 2004 v6 because they only came with the 4speed automatic. I would take any v8, yes the vvti makes more power but they are both better than the v6 in that category. I have an 04 v6 and I'm happy with it.

The V6 does have some issues with headgaskets around 200k miles, not all of them, but keep that on your radar.

That is a lot of wheel for that tire. I thought they were perfect on a 7" wheel

That’s what I’m worried about.. found a rim I really like but it’s only in the 8.5” wide

Thanks, the main reason I am thinking about selling the truck is to put some money back in the bank after I had the baby. That's why I was looking into a 3rd gen 4Runner but I am quickly finding out there is no such thing as a clean 3rd gen for under $5k. I found a super clean 1 owner 2007 GX470 in Arizona for $12500 with 160k miles on it which has been tempting me. It won't save me any money over my truck but the thing has been babied it's whole life and that v8 would be nice to have.

Seriously, 285/75r17 is just about the same height without the width. Mine were just over 34" off the car, same as my Hankook 315/75r16. Look into it if your kinda want the tall skinny look.
