    Yeah.
No issues yet (crossing fingers) on my 2018, but I had a 2009 that had bad drums from the factory, shimmied when braking. They replaced them and it went away. Not sure why they would just resurface on a brand-new truck.

Mine has been at the Dealership for almost a week now has they track down the cause of the "Miss/Misfire".

    It is very strange...

Just a side note they are also saying it is throwing codes saying I have disconnected the battery and they also asked when was the last time I downloaded the codes with my code reader.

Only problem with that theory is that I don't have a code reader and I have not disconnected the battery...

It did throw codes for the Head Mechanic though who is driving it right now to figure out what is going on.

Unknown lift, maybe 2" I don't know how to ID it, and would rather set it back to stock.

Problem is, you likely told them the engine has been missing. They had their mechanic evaluate this concern, and after a short look, he likely told the service advisor, "No, not missing, it's right there under the hood where it's supposed to be." I guess now they're trying to figure out why your truck's really there, lots of head scratching going on, etc.

LOL I took it in for Regular Servicing and a vibration on deceleration and insisted on a test drive with the mechanic and right away he says it is missing so here we are, them with my truck, and me with a loaner, just a little stressed right now!

    Also here with a 17' TRDOR M/T

I'm going to hit 10K by Wednesday.

The wind noise coming from the upper a pillar on driver door? CHECK
The noise coming from the dash on the right where it meets a pillar? CHECK
Rough, diesel like idle? CHECK... until I got OVTune, now it purrs
Unable to shift into first unless I depress the clutch slightly? CHECK infrequent, but still happens
Clutch only performs 98% of my input? CHECK okay WTF does this mean...

The best way I can explain the clutch is that I try my best to shift as smoothly as possible, but I get varying results between gears especially in 1-3.
For example, light turns green, begin a normal acceleration and for about 1-2 seconds there is a sound I can only describe as a diesel like clatter just as I'm coming off the last few inches of the clutch. This doesn't happen every time, but frequent enough. Then, going into 2nd, 60% of the time it's a perfect shift. 20% of the time it lightly slams in because I can hear and feel the drive shaft. The other 20% I get the lurch although it's not as pronounced since tuning it.

Regarding the diff howl, how old are we talking? Is it so pronounced a deaf person can hear it or is there something specific I need to be listening for?

I work with a guy who just left being a Toyota / Lexus dealer mechanic for 7 years to join the FD. One thing he said about the 2018’s... the brake drums are lighter weight and warp a lot. His brother bought a 2018 tacoma and had the issue, had them turned. Happened again. Had them replaced...happened again.

Let me get this straight - A brother of a mechanic who is now a co-worker had an issue. Just wanted to get it right in my mind...

Yep. Not only did he work on his brother’s 2018, but several others with the same issue.

It was in south Florida. The only thing I can think of being different there than anywhere else is the heat, and salt in the air near beaches, but i have no way of seriously saying those are a factor.

I got my truck back today after 2 weeks at the dealership.

They ended up replacing all 6 injectors saying that No. 1 and No. 5 were really bad and the other ones were acting up as well. They were not throwing codes but were showing up intermittently on the Data List.

They also did another update on the transmission.

Not sure yet, just got it back tonight, going to drive it for a couple of days.

Engine seems to run a little smoother but I have not had the truck for 2 weeks so I don't know yet...

    I will keep you posted.

I have the intermittent hesitation anytime the needle passes over 1500rpm when shifting from 1st-2nd and 2nd-3rd (MT)... Feels like I let my foot off the gas and then promptly stepped back on it.

Took it to the dealer and he told me that this was normal operation of the Otto/Atkinson motor and that I was shifting too low (I normally shift around 3k rpm)... Basically, if I didn’t want to feel the hesitation, I need to rev it out more so the needle doesn’t drop below 1500rpm between shifts. He said that that must be where the motor is switching over from Otto to Atkinson and for whatever reason (outside temp, throttle position, etc) the motor stumbles right there.

It’s weird that I have to change how I’ve always driven a manual and can’t shift at low rpms to get better mpgs just so the truck doesn’t hiccup.

Toyota turned my rear brake drums today which were 9 and 11 thousandths out. They said that explains the braking vibration. The tech told me the rear ended howl is not enough to justify the tsb and that he hopes it gets louder so they can fix it. I told him I may pay them to do it anyway. Along with replacing my cps which I believe explains my misfire below 1500rpm.
