    Thanks!

Wood platform, yeah. Drawers themselves - no, they were a Craigslist find with the topper. I did make some small tweaks to them though

Just bought an REI Trail 40 backpack, because everyone needs four packs, don’t they? I told my wife it was going to be my “bugout” bag. She didn’t understand what I was talking about. Actually, I needed a good daypack to replace my North Face that will now become carry-on/computer bag/gig bag. I’m pretty much impressed with it. I think it will be a good one.

which REI location did you go to? I was at the Jacksonville Garage Sale but didn't get anything. I normally don't even look at the sleeping pads because I just assume they are all punctured.

The newer one in Orlando. They didn’t have much but I only found out there wa a garage sale an hour before it was over and happened to be in the area. It’s much larger than the Jacksonville store. I drove up to the Jacksonville store once before the Orlando one was built and was kind of dissappointed with the store and garage sale. But I’ve also been to the Denver flagship store which is massive where their garage sales are several parking lots so the bar is pretty high...

Most sleeping pads have potential leaks but there are some returned for other reasons. They are pretty good about listing it on the tickets and they blow them up for you to test them if you ask. I definitely never looked through them before but was glad I did.

Somehow I missed this! Looks great! Thanks for the pictures.

What did you sew? It looks like you cut it then pull it under the tailgate and and use the clips, that normally go to the poles, to the topper rear door. How did you secure the sides inside the topper to keep rain/wind from getting in?

Last one: Is this the tent you used? $25 at Wally World. Looks like it except for the rainfly. Maybe you cut out the mesh and sewed in the normal material? I’m trying to reverse engineer what you did in my head haha

Sorry for all the questions! I was apprehensive on a DIY but I’m now intrigued! That looks awesome! The DAC tents definitely seem crazy pricey for what they are.

    That’s the tent.
Basically broke it down and reused everything in different places.

Velcro held top part to inside of shell.
    Bottom of sides were magnets.

Tricky part was working around the tailgate cable.

$500-600. Their SilNylon shelters are pretty well priced though, so I am hoping they can undercut everyone else and come in closer to $500.

The site now lists it at 20oz instead of 19.5. An employee of theirs on Reddit said that you will be able to get it with a SilNylon floor for the inner as an option as well (basically the inner for the regular Notch).

For example, the MLD Solomid is available in Sil and DCF. It is $255 for just the tarp in Sil, and the DCF upgrade is $175. The optional inner net on the Solomid is pretty close in size to the Notch (although the Notch can fit taller people because of the end struts to increase volume) and is a $155 add-on in Sil or $225 for DCF.

A Solomid in Sil with Sil inner net and adding stakes (since the TarpTent models include stakes) comes to 25.5oz and is $435 (not seam sealed).
A Solomid in .75 DCF with DCF inner net and adding stakes comes to 23.18oz for a whopping $680!!!

A Solomid XL with an added inner net can fit a person up to 6'4", which would make it more comparable to the Notch for a tall person (the Solomid XL will be wider than the Notch, though, at a full 30" throughout).
A Solomid XL in Sil with Sil inner net and stakes comes to 30.18 oz and is $445 (not seam sealed).
A Solomid XL in .75 DCF with DCF inner net and stakes comes to 24.98oz and is a whopping $715!!!!!

A Notch, with stakes and everything is listed at 27oz (not seam sealed, my personal Notch is 28.2oz seam sealed) and is $285.
A DCF Notch is supposed to be 20oz. The DCF upgrade for MLD shelters is about a 36-37% increase in cost. Using that would actually make the DCF Notch about $390. That is probably too much to expect but hell they may be able to come in under $500 for a true double wall DCF shelter!

The Zpacks Solplex and Altaplex are 15.5oz/$555 and 17.9oz/$585 respectively. These weights are without stakes.

This has a chance to be a gigantic home run for TarpTent.

That isn't mine. I found the picture on the web and don't know who it belongs to. Since finding it, I have been trying to find one for my kitty. I've found several "tents" for cats but not that particular one.
