so i just put a toytec 3" lift in my 2005 tacoma double cab, long bed, TRD sport. First of all, I was impressed at how fast the delivery was. I put a AAL in the back, new 884 coils with the half inch aluminum spacer for a full 3" in the front. Also i put a 1" drop kit on the front differential to help out the CV joints. It looks great!! and i still have about a 1" rake, which is good, cause i do alot of towing and payload hauling.

I was wondering what i could add to the rear suspension to increase payload more, with out putting a huge rake on it?

But also, after i put the front lift and diff. drop kit in, i noticed a slight vibration in the front end, between the speeds of 30-40mph. i have had the alignment done and its still there. Im thinking maybe its the front drive shaft. cause that is not a big lift for the CV joints. has anyone else had this problem?

I noticed that there is a gas milage decrease obviously because of the increased angle on the cv joints. is this permanant, or do the CV jonts wear-in at all?

any input on anything would be great! Thanks in advance

Camper top with racks, Custom fogs behind lower bumper. Interior LED lighting, Rock Lights, Hella 500s with upraged bulbs behind black billet grill, AAL, Front 5100s
Sounds like you want air bags in the back.

As for the front drive shaft i guess it could be though i have no idea what that entails. The rear one is a quick fix and increases mpg and power instantly while fixing vibes. (actually I got the best mpg I have ever had in my truck after shimming my drive shaft. 400 mile tank!)

are you sure its the front that the vibes are coming from? axle shims and carrier bearing drops seem to help with alot of peoples vibes after lifting their truck

Just installed same lift from toytec, and I have the same problem. I was going to start a thread this morning but you already did. Lots of steering play and vibration at 45-65 mpg. I have not done the diff drop yet.

You need to order a toytec carrier spacer and possibly some shims.

i Know the vibrations are coming from the front end, because i put the rear leaf in first. Then put the front lift in two days later, and there was no vibration until the front was done. There is no steering play though.

The whole project took about 6 hours all together. 2 hours on the rear, 4 on the front. The ride quality is good. maybe a little softer on the bumps. haven't taken it offroading yet.

Which drive shaft were you referring to? when you were talking about shimming?

also the ride is only slightly better than oem because you have the AAL. When i switched over to a full ome dakar rear leaf pack the ride is now like a cadillac. With the AAL and front coils its actually almost stock stiffness in the back and much softer in the front. When you do a real leaf pack with the front coils its soft in the f&r.

FWIW- The 884 springs are NOT the Toytec lift kit. They are an OME lift sold by Toytec.

You can't "increase" payload more just by putting stuff into the suspension- Payload is predicated on brakes, transmission, frame, etc. You might make it handle the weight better...but even that is only to a point. And there is usually a down side to pretty much any mod.

You can cause vibes in the front or rear by lifting the front. Lifting the front changes the driveline geometry all the way thru....Lifting the rear really doesn't. You need to be really sure of where the vibes are coming from to diagnose/purchase the right parts.

Good luck ferreting out the vibration issues.
