I ordered a manual untested as well, my salesman all but forced me to test drive the auto, when we got back from the few mile test drive, he asked what I thought, I responded with it's not a manual. We went in and started the ordering process.

Yep, that’s exactly how it was for me too. Given the great resale value, if I absolutely hate it (I won’t) I can always turn around and sell it (I won’t).

They gave me a brand new Automatic for a few days for an extended test drive, I obviously proceeded to order the Manual too.

Did you buy your truck there? How did you find the dealership to deal with?

It's all good man, just be aware that some (myself included) had to work at adjusting to how the throttle/clutch feels. The good news is that there are a lot of ppl that like it right out of the gate :). If you don't or want to change things up, there's an aftermarket solution for that too (OVtune).

All I'm saying is don't throw the baby out with the bath water. Enjoy!

i probably could have gotten one for a few days, but I knew that it was a waste of time and didn't need to play that game. Not to mention about a week after I ordered the 17, I got into a fender bender in a parking lot with the 09. Would have really sucked if I had a new taco on loan from the dealer.

I like them and have worked with them in the past. The salesperson I'm working with has helped me out before and I trust him. I also looked at the dealership in Bozeman but wanted to keep my business local.

Traded my 2012 Tundra Platinum crewcab for a 2016 Tacoma Off Road . I do miss some things about the Tundra especially the interior room, however it seems like every time I had to haul something in it I usually just pulled my utility trailer. That being the case I felt like I was better off with a smaller truck and much better in town mpgs. So far I have had zero problems with the Tacoma and have adjusted to the difference. I'm really begining to like it.

I downsized from a 2012 Ram with the Cummins because didn't need it anymore. Like others said I miss the power of the turbodiesel, but for what I need it for, the my DCLB OR does just fine. Also I love the easier parking, washing, maneuverability, and softer ride since I'm getting older. I only have 4800 miles on my Tacoma so I haven't done any oil changes yet but I will not miss the high maintenance costs (3 gallons oil, filter, fuel filter every 6 months) of the Ram.
