I usually do what I want (vehicle wise) if it’s important enough to me regardless of my wife’s opinion. THAT BEING SAID, if your fiancé really doesn’t like the frontier, you may get sick of hearing about it. Or her spoken, or unspoken disdain could subconsciously affect you later. The power of suggestion is strong.
If she loves it, here’s your sign! Lol. Good luck with the decision. BTW, you can still hang out with us!

Me and her got into a bit of a heated one over this. She thinks I'm losing too much for this to be worth it. She's probably right.

She also thinks it's ugly. Lol

Im talking it back in the morning. This really was a whim kind of thing. Now I just have to figure out how to drop this off grab my Taco and leave lol.

I’ve been married for almost 33 years, and I can say one thing is true. “happy wife, happy life.”
As I stated earlier, sometimes I buy a vehicle that doesn’t make perfect sense to my wife. Case in point, my 370Z. She has bad knees, so getting in and out of such a low car sucked for her. Every time I stepped on the pedal a bit, she’d get all annoyed. If I wanted to enjoy my weekend toy, I had to drive alone. Kinda ruined my enjoyment.

If you love her enough to be planning to spend your life with her, it’s worth taking her opinion into account. She was smart enough to hook up with you! Seriously though, you’ll be with her longer than you’ll have your taco lease. Bide your time, and choose your battles wisely, LOL

I had a 91' 4WD Nissan PU 4 cylinder and it was a great truck. Never had one problem with it. Next to 22RE I had in my 85 Toyota, the 2.4 in the Nissan was rock solid.

Yeah. I'm not exactly between a rock and a hard place. Losing our original down payment for "driving feel" seems ridiculous to her. In a way I agree.

Maybe if I went for the Nissan to begin with but doing it now just seems too pricey to swallow.

On the plus side I'm taking a Taco home again lol

Every time you drive you "feel" the truck, every time. Make a decision from your heart, she'll drive with you in the new truck.

She'll see you're happier in it, and boom, happy wife. Er, fiance.

So I filled up $15 in gas that I spent, and brought it back. Kinda feel bad about all the kms I put on it but they offered the overnight test drive so at the same time I don't feel too bad.

Anyway, I kind of feel like a deserter who has made his way back to base. "Don't shoot! Friendly!" lol

    The Frontier was nice, it had a ton of goodies my Taco didn't but two factors weighed in here;

    1) The monetary loss we would take would be a lot in such a short time.
    2) ...I started to miss my Taco a bit.

The little things like the fit and finish of the interior was no where near the Taco, the lack of info-center, not having that big beefy hood in front of you, the look of the truck, the power steering was like something out of the 80s (a world of difference here)...man it added up. Yeah my Taco bugs me sometimes but driving this Pro 4X gave me a better appreciation of what I have already.

Honestly they are both great trucks. It's like asking who do you want to go home with, Evan Rachel Wood or Emilia Clarke. Kind of no wrong answer there. All in all I think I fell a tad more in love with my Taco when I picked it up. Maybe it was the subconscious relief from the financial stress? Or getting back to what you're used to? Who knows, but I think I'm done looking at other trucks.

So, it sounds like this was a valuable experience in the long run. A refreshed perspective is always a good thing.

I had a 2005 frontier bought new. I had it for 6months and returned it. The engine EATS oil. That's because early on they develop cracks in the engine block that dump coolant into the engine and burns off the oil and coolant. It's a common problem. Also they have serious transmission problems. The wifes parents bought an 07 pathfinder, same problems! Replaced the tranny 2 times, engine issues, electrical issues etc. A girl at work has a 2012 nismo manual. Same engine problems. Look on the forums. There are very few of these trucks with no issues lol

I believe the Frontier is going to get an update this year or next. The Titan just did so the Frontier is next.

The wrong answer is anyone BUT Emilia Clarke.

Btw, you still haven't answered about if you've tried an MT Tacoma. You'd have to go up a trim package, ie more expensive, so maybe you could use that as a bargaining chip to not lose your down payment.

    My pickup listed for $34,418.

Well to be super honest with you I have never had enough time in a manual car to really get the hang of it. Don't want to go around burning clutches and failing miserably for a few weeks.

That being said I think MTs are really rare in my area and have to be ordered.

You're not going to burn anything up in a weekend. But regardless I'm telling you if you hate the auto Tacoma so bad, buy the MT
