I have a Silver TRD sport 4x4, double cab short bed. I am really happy with it so far. I have installed a TRD Pro grill, TRD black wheels, wildpeak 265/70-17 tires. I also changed interior lights to LEDs as well as the headlights and the fog lights. I am very happy with the way the truck looks right now but after upgrading to these tires the ride has been very harsh. Would a set of used TRD Offroad struts smooth out the ride on the road a lot? I can drive down a road that looks to be completely smooth yet the truck bounces around. The tires are balanced, the bouncing isnt shaking the steering wheel or in any type of rhythm that would suggest out of balance. I never noticed this behavior with the stock wheels and tires. thanks for your help!IMG_1007.jpg IMG_1010 2.jpg IMG_1013.jpg IMG_1015.jpg

take a torch and heat the coil springs till they turn red then let them cool slowly. just joking, there are lots of threads that ask the same question here. what air pressure are you running?

Did you get LT E rated 10 ply 3195lb, or sl 2679lb rated tire? Big difference in ride quality.

What he said for sure...if you got the LTs then it will ride rougher. I have the same tire in 16s and SL. Rides like a dream!

Could be feeling the bounce and shudder of the stiffer heavier tires and increased in unspring mass.

That said, yes, for 200 to 250 you should be able to find a nearly new set of assembled struts and rear shocks from an OR. I did just that to my sport and noticed a significant improvement. Make sure you find assemblies with the springs and top hats. I believe the springs are softer. Plus it's only like 1 hr install time then.

Glad so many OR guys do lifts. Keep supplying us cheap bastards with nearly new take-offs!

What is tire pressure at? This may be your issue. If you don't carry any weight in the rear, you pressure needs to be lower than your front. This may improve ride quality.

What was mentioned above, E rated tired should really be avoided on a truck as light as the Tacoma unless you are an avid rock crawler and want all the side wall protection money can buy.

Probably 4-6 psi less than up front. In some cases, up to 10-15psi less

I never can find one anywhere near clean around here... last time I was looking at them I ended up buying and building out a Miata FA1F969C-DFBC-43FD-9A31-9B8F2F35BC8E.jpg
Might have to start looking for a cheap S13 as a project!
