I thought it was odd, but figured it was just Toyota trying something new. @Graf_Taco drove my truck to try the ShiftSense last weekend and remarked it was indeed backwards. Anyone else?

Ha, I'm not that picky. May ask if they'll turn it around next oil change, but I doubt it since I don't want them seeing the SS wiring in the trans tunnel.

    So 1/2 turn 'fixes' it?

QC is in the toilet for sure. I'd be seeking a warranty extension.

You guys, y'all are a riot. Try turning yours around and see if the collar will go. Seems like I'm going to break the damn thing if I push any harder.

It turns the other way too. If 180 out, either way will fix it. Right?

Oh, I can fix it. I was just wondering if anyone else's came that way.

EDIT: Just haven't gotten to it, yet. Other stuff to do. Might this weekend.

Well, seeing as I wasn't concerned with fixing it, and thought it was a funny thing that happened, the thread may get me an answer if anyone else had it happen, which is why I asked.

Actually it sounds like the kind of thing I'd have done if I was a lot prep boy.

No harm done, no 'evidence' pointing to me, but messes with salesmen and buyers. :D

It could have happened at the dealership, some dealers remove them to keep them from being stolen.

OP, there is a chrome plastic ring around the shift knob, grab it like your about to jerk it, 1/4 turn it to your left and pull down, viola the ring and shifter boot will pull down and then lefty loosy, and then righty tight that shift knob into the proper position then you can pull the chrome ring up and align it up into the notches then 1/4 turn it should snap into place. Literally takes 30 seconds. Good luck

haha, my shift knob was correct, but was really loose. At the first service, they tightened it up, but left it backwards. I popped the leather baffle off and straightened it then re-attached the baffle. It's pretty solid now.

mine was straight, but very loose, mine is an auto. I slid the collar with the leatherette sleeve down and tightened it up and then lifted the sleep back into position.
