I've seen all the threads regarding the AT and how they end up trading their truck for a MT..

So now I'm curious if any MT owners out there got or is getting tired and has or is going to trade for a AT??

Plus I'm bored with all the other threads, interested in reading something different. Thoughts, opinions, go!

Auto has always worked fine for me. Just turn on ECT if you want the higher rpm band.
I'm not pushing a clutch in traffic for 10 years, period. Not worth the hassle.
If I need a manual I'll get a dump truck. :crapstorm:

Nevahhhhhh!!!! I'm not tired of it at all at 40k. If I was going to drive an auto I would have probably got a Tundra.

I would not have bought a Tacoma if a manual was not available. No way I would ever consider an automatic.

^^^ This. Manual was a must. 46,000 miles and I still love it.

I’ve had both. No way I go back to the auto from the 6MT.

I had a 17 M/T and traded up to an 18 auto. The only real reason is because I couldn't take the 5ft bed anymore and needed a long bed, which as we know isn't offered in M/T. I loved the 17 and it was much more fun to drive, more user friendly on the freeway as far as less gear changes. But now that I have the auto I don't hate it as much as I thought I would. Sure it has it's quirks that bug me, but I love it about as much as I would anything. I hate the constant freeway gear changing with the auto about as much as the electronically limited bottom end on take off with the manual

Same here, I would have found something different. I have never owned an automatic transmission vehicle in my life.

I was dead set on a Tacoma for the MT. Never owned an Auto, have no plans to until I'm basically forced into it.

I'm a manual man for life but... my knees are so f in tired. Couple of injuries to the left knee and was basically grounded for weeks in the manny. S4 and ect button and I really love the way the auto drives.

I'll take bed space over the manual transmission. If I could have it all I would, I prefer a manual trans but, Shi Uchiyamada didnt see fit to equip them that way.

If it wasn't for manual, I probably would have jumped over to GM or Ford.

I’ve owned three vehicles in my life...a 99 Tacoma v6 5 speed I bought new. Traded that to a new 09 sport 6 speed. Then traded that to an 18 off-road auto. Did I miss the manual? Yes, for about two weeks. But once I got use to the auto I’ll never own another manual in a pickup truck.

Plus the keyless doors, push button start, and 12voltsolition remote start have spoiled me. Oh, and I hold six gear all day long on the highway.

I made a mistake buying a new 2014 4runner (before 3rd gen release) it was a great ride dont get me wrong i loved it, but i went crazy because of the AT, the first AT i ever owned then now ended up in a little car (2018 WRX) to fill the need of manual transmission.
*Had a Toyota moment where i got pissed off at their service so deterred from the Toyota brand and bought a Suby

If i would have done it differently and 3rd gen was out in 2014 i would probably still be in a MT Taco

The one thing I wish the MT had was the keyless doors and push button start. I miss having that after having two previous vehicles that had it.
