Hmm isn't the boot collar epitrochoid shape in nature? (Just learned that word today, describing the boot collar shape). If that's accurate, how is it symmetrical that would allow for a 180 degree departure from true?

    I could be wrong

    Looking at this picture
I don’t see how the boot could clip onto a backwards knob, without being twisted around 180*

Didn't you remove it for the SSP?

The SSP is useless now that we can fix the problem.

But I never bought the SSP.

Perhaps it is symmetrically epitrochoid and therefore similarly functional at 180 degrees.

I still haven't seen a picture of this freak of the industry. It's killing me. I kind of think it might look cool actually, like a swept back 80s hairstyle look:

    Maybe I'm crazy...or drunk...or both.

Funny. When my truck was new the outlet in the center console was not working. I brought it in to be fixed and they put my shift knob on backwards when they reinstalled everything.

I was amazed how somebody who works on these vehicles every day would think that was correct.....

I truly love this forum. Twisted for a bit while in traffic and corrected it, so no pictures for the savages. And yes, I'd say its epitrochoid. The rear is wider than the front when oriented correctly, which seems good IMO.

I’ve seen it quite a few times. I’ve seen then come in loose, backwards, sideways, or any direction other than straight. Typically the guy doing pdi’s will fix it. But, he’s usually also one of the lowest paid guys on the lot...

Is that even possible..? To see the knob in that scenario, I mean..!!
