What rating?P or E?

 

I am looking to find out if a P rated tire is worth getting over a E load tire. I am in the market for a 265/75r16. I found some Wildpeaks AT3w that I would like to get for $126 a piece or 500ish bucks. I can get free shipping for those here in Alaska. I also saw the E rated version that is 20$ a tire more but they won't ship them here. I am also not finding the Ply rating for the cheaper tires. The Q and A section says 6 ply, 8 ply, I have also read they are 4 ply.

I wil be using these tires for overland use on trails, fire roads, etc. Is the P load rating not worth it? It looks like if they are not, Ill have to hunt around locally but shit here in Alaska is super expensive. Here are the tires I want. Anyone else running these rated tires Off-Road? I see a lot of people are running them but are the Ps more for looks?

P rating

 

I am going with the P rated tires for my use on groomed trails and fire roads. I don't do any rock crawling, which I think is where the E rating would prove better. I have heard the E rated is 10 ply and the P rated is 4 ply but I am not sure.

 

I went p285, more than sufficient for light trails and dirt roads. E is definitely for rock crawling

 

What rims and offset on your set up? I heard that plays a big role on the rubbing and CMC.

I’m thinking about purchasing these tires on my SCS Ray 10s. Same size 285/70/17

 

Looting at my stock OR tires, they look to be 2ply. Maybe 4. They've done me fine on all kinds of trails. Not rock crawling but I've been in tons of different environments and they are still good. Maybe I will be fine with P rating

 

Nice, lol they are E rated got them from Amazon for $149 per tire during Black Friday

 

I see them for sale on Amazon to for that price. They won't ship to me in Kodiak =/ I might have to get the on a ship from Seattle. Minimum cost would be 100$. I'll look around Anchorage on Tuesday.

 

I'm running SCS Stealth 6's, 17 inch not sure what the offset is. They're the gunmetal with machined lip, limited run. I'm pretty positive it's the same offset as the others.

As long as you have adjustable UCA's I think you're fine. I think people around here make it a bigger deal than it really is

 

Exactly. Some people have 285 and have no issues. I was told it had to do with the offset of the rim. While other members had to trim or chop.

But yes I do have aftermarket UCAs. Just need to find time to install them.

Did you purchase a different set of TMPS sensors for your rims? I want to buy a different set for my after market rims.
Just not sure how that works

 

I just came back from visiting my son in upstate NY and got caught in an unexpected winter storm on the way home last night and have to say these Falken Wild Peak AT3 tires lived up to the hype. Even my wife and daughter said they think the truck rides much better then the stock Toyo Tires. I have never felt as confident and stuck to the pavement as I did last night. It drove through snow, sleet & rain as well as a combo of all of them As I have mentioned on here prior I paid $515.00 shipped for the dealer and $80 to install and I put all new sensors in my new TRD so I have 2 sets of wheels/tires. The only real negative I have encountered seems to be a slight hit on mpg’s but I feel the positives outway that one negative. I couldn’t have been happier with my purchase.
