Installed the Subaru tweeters today. IMO, I think it sounds more clearer and maybe a little more bass?

What difference did you guys hear when installing the tweeters with stock speakers?

What was your diagnosis after installing the tweeters?

I did the all the speakers from this thread. And honestly you are talking about EDIT( 3 sets of tweeters) 6 tweeters at that point because these are coaxial speakers. For me it was a lot of tweet. That's why I got a sub, but I already knew I was going to get a sub.

Now somebody may come along and say for some reason the Subaru tweets pass through some better signal that made your other speakers sound better but IMO there is zero chance that tweeters improved the bass in your setup.

They are the opposite of bass.

However, if you do feel like the tweeters gave you more bass quality then I think your mind will be blown if you go ahead and replace the other 4 speakers.

Gotcha. That’s why I posted to see what other people thought after installing the tweeters.

I was trying to hear the difference after installing and couldn’t quite figure it out. But I do think the sound got a little clearer and maybe it sounds a little more louder?

    Anyways, thanks for your input.

It might just be that you don't have to turn your volume up so loud for it to sound good (with your new tweets ) so now your other speakers are breathing a sigh of relief and there was less distortion. There is also this concept of Rolloff that factory head units employ that will decrease the bass as you turn the head unit up so that you don't blow the factory speakers. So agian if you are able to listen to music at a lower volume and get the same highs you might have better lows. This is all the beer talking at this point.

The beer also requests that you replace those other four speakers. It will change your life.

Awesome man. Don’t know crap about sound systems so it’s all new to me.

I’m thinking about doing the speakers next. One of the members recommended kickers.

    Anyways, enjoy your Brotha!

Bro. All 95 pages of this thread are about THOSE kickers. Go to post 1, follow the instructions step by step like we all did, and you'll be able to say you know more than crap about sound systems. It's all laid out there for you. Post 1.

    Do it.

I completely agree. I was terrified to change mine out. I’m handy at most things not called sound systems but once I started and completed this mod I was amazed at how easy it was. I only did the Tweeters and it completely changed the character (for the better) of my sound system. The sound is much more crisp and a little louder as well. Best money I’ve spent on this truck so far.

Nice! I just want to add, if you go down this road, make sure you check your latches before you shut the doors. I just so happened to see somebody else say that before I did mine and it went smooth.

If you happen to be one of the guys who forgot to check and your door is stuck answers here:

I’m sure I’ll screw it up haha. But I’d rather install the speakers myself than taking it to an audio shop. I had a bad experience long time ago and it’s hard for me to trust them now.

The hardest part is pulling hard enough to pop the bottom part of that first door panel. After that you'll be a pro. Get some trim tools. Say goodbye to the feeling in your thumbs for a day or two (cause of the mother loving clips).

So after installing my new speakers, they actually perform worse than the stock ones. Speakers definitely need power (JL C1s). Getting a 5 channel amplifier that has preamp and speaker-level inputs (RCA and bare wire input harnesses included). Going speaker level is an option as I won't be pushing more than 60RMS. For those that have done similiar, do you just tap say the back speaker, or is a taco tunes wiring harness (https://*********.com/shop/toyota-t...acoma-plug-play-amp-harness-installation-kit/) or something like the Audiocontrol LC7 a better option (LC7 also controls bass cut off).

I know how to solder, so it is possible for me to just just run input and output wires to the factory speaker harness/HU and AMP, if that's how things are done.

Those are nice speakers, which type did you get? There's 2 different 6x9's.

I got the 2 way coaxials, did not really feel like messing with a component which would be better than these subaru speakers, but hey, they are already in there. I have an SR5, so it has even less power than normal. It is amazing how nice those stock speakers were in retrospect. The JL's are clear, but absolutely no bass response right now without an amp. Mid is substantial better, especially with the CLD tile then foam.

Now just have to figure out how to wire this amp and where to put it and I am all set. Bought a 5 channel so I can add a sub next time the JL stealthbox is on groupbuy.

@bshammer0 Dude, if you keep posting up threads like this, I am gonna go broke! I have the Subbie tweeters coming, as well as Crutchfield's Kicker 6x9's and 6 3/4's.

I may go down today and see how much I can get for a kidney...

I had a successful install today. They sound much better but I’m in agreement that I’ll probably get a sub. The install was very easy. I only had one issue and that was I dropped my 10mm socket behind the passenger side dash while trying to disconnect the tweeter connector. I went in through the glove box but have not recovered it yet. It may live there forever. Here is a quick YouTube just some still pictures of my install.

So I have seen tweeter upgrade posted in a few places.. are these are also an upgrade and an easy replacement to the JBL versions ?
