Manual hubs are not as strong I’d probably just do the bushing

 

Ehhh, I've never broken a manual hub or actually seen one broken in person. I did put a hole in a TC when the 'auto' hub on my 82 K10 didn't engage on one side right away. Of course I don't rock crawl either.

 

Yeah you’d likely be fine then but the cv/hub combo on our tacos is thiner than the add cv’s and we all know how often those suckers already break off-road

 

This is how I did the suspension on my taco and FJ. Shits so much easier than dealing with a compressor. Plus you don't have to deal with that stupid ass top hat bolt all the way on the inside of the shock tower..

 

Wheelers and Icon used to be different if I recall. One made by Alcan, one by Deaver.

The Icon 3 leaf AAL was awesome! I’d recommend it. If Headstrong’s is the same, i’m Sure you’ll like the ride. I left the overload in for mine because I was usually weighed down.

 

I've seen one broken in person, but it is on a 1st gen T4R, Toyota front axle SAS, twin sticks, locked, and geared on 35's now, he was on 36's for awhile

 

Not really making a good case against manual hubs, haha

 

Better than blowing up the diff, like what would happen on our trucks with a locked front diff haha

 

Plus I actually prefer manual hubs haha. My '88 had them. I wasn't trying to make a case against putting them on, he just said he hadn't seen one before and this happens to be a Toyota axle Aisin manual hub

Manual hubs are the reason I got stuck in sand down at Race Point. My well meaning, but mechanical deficient friend locked my passenger side hub for me. He didn't realize quite how far you had to turn for engagement. I was in 2WD and didn't realize it.

On a side note, I'm rethinking my black TRD beadlocks and wishing I had purchased gunmetal when I had the chance. I didn't because I already had a 5th one left over from the 2G. If anyone is considering a set in black, can you buy gunmetal instead and I'll toss you $20 to trade? Mine are still brand new in box! I'm sure the black will look fine and I'll love them, but I recently saw a truck like mine with the gunmetal and it looked amazing.

 

If you want it done right do it... Nevermind but yes they do have a long turn and can be difficult at times to turn all the way.

When I bought my '13 you couldn't get the gunmetal wheels from the dealer. They straight up wouldn't sell them unless you had a Baja and more or less could provide proof the wheel was damaged. I tried bribing a parts guy and hit a wall. I got the black wheels and got (5) to be safe. When the 13 was totaled I still had the 5th wheel in box and I could have purchased either the black or the gunmetal and I figured I'd save $200 buy going black. Now I kinda regret it. I should have just sold the 5th wheel and bought 5 gunmetal ones. So I'm hoping there might be someone who wants these wheels in black and are going to purchase a new set, and I'm hoping they'd be nice enough to purchase gunmetal and exchange with me.

It's a long shot, but there's no reason not to ask. Ultimately if no one wants to do this, I'll just mount the black wheels and be done with it. I'd likely take a significant hit selling these as-is as no one is going to pay me what they cost new even though they are new.
