Yes I’ve driven my friends 2nd gens and some newer 3rd gens at the dealer. I do like how they drive!

And do you miss the comfort of your F150? I know for me, driving my ford is like sitting in a lazy boy, it’s so comfortable! I’d just hate to be in the Tacoma a few weeks from now and miss the couch-like cabin of my Ford.

I feel your dilemma I came from a fully loaded titan not as plush as a f150 but still comfy. First week or so I missed the power an elbow room. But after my first 2 fillups an ease of parking it all clicked an was totally happy with my purchase. It’s roomy enough I’m 6ft an carry some weight. The V6 is plenty adequate won’t break any speed records but I have no doubts with the passing power an mataining hills no issue.

I actually find the taco more comfortable for me, as an average size guy. The Ford did have a bit more room to stretch out with the big bench seat in front, but the Tacoma seats are more supportive. 5’9” and maybe 170 here though, a 250# person would probably prefer the Ford.

Oh yeah, the Ford 3.7 had more power at high rpm and revved to like 7,000, insanely high for a truck engine. But the 4.0 has way more oomph down low, IMO a far better truck motor!

I think most will agree a smaller, lighter rig is better off road?

Also regarding comfort- I drove an F150 for a few weeks inbetween getting my last Taco and the F150 drove like a tank. Louder, less maneuverable, easily upset over small bumps. Im sure loaded up they drive better but unloaded it was not for me.
Getting into the Taco is like putting on your favorite pair of sneakers.

My taco is louder for now but that’s pretty much because the Duratracs get louder and louder over time (otherwise pretty awesome tires though).

That’s my observation. A lot of people think bigger is better when it comes to trucks. That’s only true for towing and hauling heavy loads imo. I’ve never wished for a bigger truck off road or up in the mountains. I actually pulled a broke down Suburban uphill for maybe half a mile in the Bighorn Mountains and it was a muddy dirt road. So it can still tow a pretty good amount!

I noticed it when I see the full sizes on the trail mostly . They just cant hop over obstacles like the smaller rigs. Its more of a brute force tactic

IMHO you can't beat the practicality and value of the Tacoma. However If you are a big guy, you may have no other choice but to get a full size truck.

I wouldn’t even think you would need heated seats in San Diego, this climate change stuff has me all confused, is it cold out there now or something.

The thing about Tacoma’s is they are more of the old school style truck. Meant to be beat on, limited luxuries, take to the mountains and haul your toys around. That’s what I love about it. You can beat these things like a red headed step child and it begs for more. You’ll probably miss the luxuries at first, but after a while you won’t care.

As I’ve said before, in the event of a nuclear holocaust, all that will be left is cockroaches and Tacoma’s.
