With this setup, I can get some sliders and a front bumper for the price of a fully kitted out bumper from someone else.... definitely going to get it for tax time.

    Two questions for you @Ares32

    1. It looks like it doesn't touch the painted bumper, is that true?
    2. I can't tell if you've got OEM of aftermarket suspension. What's your sag from it?

Ok installed the bottom brackets. You'll have to either notch the bottom plastic or cut that shit away. I went with cutting the mid piece out. First 3 pics are both bottom brackets and skid. Plenty of clearance for the skid...

Now, if I'm correct it looked like what you cut (or notched if you didn't cut) would be covered by the plastic bumper piece you removed anyways if you decided to go back to stock, correct?

Thanks for the reply earlier about the sag. I was actually kinda hoping it would so I wouldn't have to lift the rear now that I've got the Pro suspension (my ARB sagged me almost an 1" when I was stock and 1/2" when I was lifted on 5100s).

So that looks great. Any tips on the install. Does it look like you could have bolted the winch to the bumper first and then installed it?

Awsome thank you for taking your time and posting those pics! And from the looks of it doesn’t stick out that much either. Was looking into c4 since it is closer the bumper. But man this looks like a cheaper alternative.

These most recent pics appear to confirm the TRD Pro skid plate will interfere :(, but it does look good

I just installed mine today also with a smittybilt XRC 9500 winch. No real problems with the install except for debating on whether or not to cut the lower plastic for the additional side supports. The winch fit in without having to relocate the trans cooler. I was also able to install the solenoid directly over the winch without hitting the hood latch support rail. Picked up a Factor 55 prolink and was done in a few hours. My winch controls are easy to access between the radiator and the grill. So I didn't mind not having cutouts in the bumper for winch access or lights.

How about the install question about the winch. Did you bolt the winch on first our did you slide it in per instructions?

I had to mount the winch after I installed the bumper. The bumper arms that attached to the frame barely fit and needed some maneuvering. Since my grill was out,.. dropping the winch onto the bumper platform was a breeze.

keep it up. love how you do have to moving anything around, only concern is does it block the trans cooler ( the winch so it wont get enough cooling)

So if you were to remove the bumper, would anyone be able to tell you modified anything?

    Mostly stuff I built.
They are putting a lot of faith in the factory bumper mounts on the frame. That little bracket doesn’t look like it will do much to help the bumper mounts from ripping off the end of the frame. Is there any other reinforcement than just this bracket with these Warn winch carriers?

    CA47380A-609F-4574-A1D0-C204E94B5BBA.jpg

I reinforced mine a lot more than that when I built it and still think it needs more. I tore the front mount off of the passenger side on my FJ when I had it winching out of a tight spot. Trying to avoid doing that on the Tacoma.

CCF20CC8-8C27-4744-A13B-3811C4AF56A2.jpg Three bolts on a captive nut plate on driver side that mirrors the factory recovery point fastener locations.

Factory recovery point retained and it sandwiches the bumper to the frame cross member.

Fabricated these frame braces that tie the front cross member to the sway bar mounts. Installed pic below.
