Let us say for example, that there is a fully decked out '17 Taco DCSB 4x4 TRD Off Road on a lot right now- with this printed on it-
    MSRP: 37,335
    Discount: 3,240
    Sale Price: 34,095

Is that it? Is that what it will go for plus taxes reg and fees? (36 basically)

Or is there anything one can do to lower that OTD price and how might he go about it?

these are the restrictions- there are no other dealers around. this is the only truck with these exact features, packages, color, et al. The buyer does not live where this truck is and it would cost him say 500 dollars over land and sea to even arrive at the dealer all smiles and trepidation.

The buyer has chosen this truck.

Is there anything he can do to bring the price down?

    Look forward to any..... hope.......

Just play hard to get. Don't let them know you drove so far and just keep saying things like "eeeh I just don't know. I really want this truck but I don't know if I want that payment." It seems like it's already pretty discounted but you may be able to squeeze another 500 or 1000 out of them.

After getting the price a little lower, then get the automatic discounts you may qualify for regardless of sale price (military discount or student discount).

Plus it's a '17. They're probably not looking to keep those around the lot much longer.

That's a real good price. i bought a '17 TRD OR 4x4 with EVERYTHING there is to offer on it on December 21, 2017 for 38,000. I'm sure by now the '17's are a little bit cheaper since it's now '18. The price you see isn't out the door. You still have to pay for taxes, license and any extra warranty's you opt for. When I say I got everything, I mean everything. If you get one with the sunroof, you'll get everything else since you can't get the sunroof any other way. Mine also has locking spare tire, tube steps, bed extender, bed mat and all...

Yes, I'm on you with the sunroof. comes in a package with other stuff but I wanted it so I'll take the other stuff with. Oh, and chrome?? no no no chrome... chrome is bad.. chrome rusts here. I wanted matching bumpers. I don't know about the locking spare tire, that is something I should get as I know a guy who's new Taco got the spare stolen (from his condo complex), none of them at our dealers here have tube steps, bed extender, bed mat and all...

Here's a lame question. Is the locking spare tire pre-market or after market? Can I ask for it as part of my "deal"?

Ask for something like a bed cover or window tint. As far as the spare tire lock... get a master lock and put in the chain thats on the holder, simple and cheap.

my 2002 taco? the chrome looks like it has a horrid acne outbreak of rust. So, you say "plastic chrome". Is there a qualitative difference tween the 1st generation chrome and the 3rd? Okay, master lock it is! thanks for that.

The rear windows of all tacos sold here have tinted windows but I would like to find out what the max I can get on the driver/passenger window's sun is BRIGHT and must wear a protective sleeve at present.... and my face gets sunburn just driving believe it or not. and no, I'm not an albino, just a British Isle decedent.

I'm glad ignorant people like myself are allowed on TW too.

There is not much (if any) chrome that is going to rust on a Tacoma --IT IS ALL PLASTIC --made to look like chrome!

I think the Spare Tire Lock is a Port or Dealer Installed Option, and I would definitely get a Toyota Bed Mat as part of the deal if you can get it cheap.

Correct. It is plastic coated in chrome. No rust.....except maybe the frame eventually!

    Welcome to the forum!
Only advice I can give you, email (you could open a new email account just for that) their internet sales dept and express your interest in said vehicle. Of course ask for their lowest number, so you could take it off their hands. After all it is a 2017 Taco, so they might go way below their advertised price to get rid of "old" stock. If they will not budge, at least you'll know right away (or within a few emails). Good luck!

That is really great to know about the Chrome.

and yes, my 2002 frame is rusting as well.

I saw something about a class action lawsuit about rust on the frame for the 2nd generation. I'm hoping that means that they took extra steps in the 3rd generation rust prevention wise. In any case, mine is going to be a 2017 and I'm hoping to do what i can on my end to preserve it. I'm not sure what to do for the undercarriage.

If anyone has recommendations for maybe coating the undercarriage, please let me know or point me to a thread for that.

    thanks!

Don't forget to have them throw in the bed mat, and the front cab side bed rail that doesn't come standard for the 3rd Gen like it did on the 2nd Gen.

I fucked up. I didn't notice the one I was looking at on the website said 6MT on the side. I'm too old for a stick and too lazy. I almost went through with a deal on that one except that Monday is a holiday so it was delayed. Shit! Glad I noticed.

I just found the exact same truck on their website but with an Automatic Transmission. The other 2017's were discounted 3 plus K. This one is not. Only difference is the AT instead of MT. Well, hope they discount this one for me as well. Damn!

Aren't the MT's harder to find? I'd think you'd get a better deal on an AT. Anyway, why stress it? Just find the one you like, make the best deal you can, and don't worry about $1000 here or there. If you cared about saving money you'd by a 2000 Ford Ranger, lol.
