Haven't flashed yet but I'm grinning ear to ear. Letting the laptop charge a little bit more. Downloaded the tune file and ready with the dongle!

Okay @OVTune are you ready for this?

Just went and drove 70 miles on 1.03B. I really liked 1.03 before this tune and now...

Well, I’ll put it this way...

1.03B with 35s and 4.88s is absolutely, without a doubt, fucking amazing. I can roast 35” mud terrains on this tune. There is no bog at WOT, the pull in 6th gear is outstanding from 20000RPM.

1 minor thing, 3rd gear feels a little bogged at WOT, but everything else is perfect.

Nice work, sir. If I make it out to Cali soon, beer and strippers are on me.

    Wow...

Let me first say that I never really noticed a whole lot of difference between my stock 04B12 tune and the alpha OVT release. It may have added a bit more torque, but nothing earth shattering. This version of the tune is on another level.

My wife and I just took about a 40-ish mile drive that included urban and highway (75-80 MPH) jaunts.

I hadn't mentioned to her that I was tuning the Tacoma, since I had spent a ridiculous amount of money tuning the Colorado. When I took off from the first red light after leaving our subdivision, and shifted through first and second, I had a stupid smile on my face and said "whoa", but she didn't hear me.

When I was taking the on-ramp to the highway, she said "your truck feels more like my car now (she drives a Mazda 3 with a stick), what changed?" I asked her what she meant and she said "there was always a truck-like delay between shifts before, but now I don't feel that, it just seems to go like my car." That, ladies and gentlemen, should be enough to sell you on this tune, but it also meant that I had to come clean about tuning the Tacoma. :)

I also had an unplanned test of the new tune by making a mistake that I had never made before. I was taking a long right turn with a yield sign, so I was able to roll through the turn, but I forgot to shift out of fourth. The truck made it through, although there was minimal acceleration as expected. I doubt it would have done that with the alpha tune, and definitely not with the stock tune.

More testing is required, but the second gear lag appears to be gone. I'll prove that during my usual commute.

I had no trouble maintaining my speed on the highway during this drive. Previously I always found myself drifting about five MPH in either direction. Granted it's not as windy today as it has been, but I think the added torque allows for better gas pedal control. If this is the way the tune behaves with 87 octane in the tank, I don't think I'll need to run 93 anymore. :bananadance: Of course, I won't be able toresist trying the 91 tune just to see what it's like.

Sorry for the rambling... I'm just very impressed by this release.

I also have to say that, if Mat really has cracked the issues with the auto-trans, I REALLY wish I would have had him around to fix the issue with the auto in the Colorado. Nobody else was able to make it work. The auto Tacoma guys should be very grateful.

Shellshock's 1.03B first 100 miles thoughts and observations

    TLDR
    1) If you own the tune, flash this now
    2) If you are on the fence, BUY THIS. BUY IT NOW.
    3) If you want to know what the first mod for your truck should be, this is 100% the answer

My truck - 04B12 - 2017 DCSB TRD OR. No lift, tires, etc. Basically a stock truck plus running boards, mudflaps, diamondback topper.

1.03 was great. 1.03B is amazing.

Power is MUCH improved from idle all the way through the top. I expected some changes, but honestly nothing like this. You can feel the additional power and the power delivery is very smooth. I unintentionally spun the rear tires probably 5 times on the wet/snowy roads up here. With the factory tune and previous tune, the power was up farther into the revs and it was kind of dead on the bottom end. With 1.03B the power starts basically immediately and is a huge increase over stock. I'm still amazed by what matt was able to do with this. I didn't really have any complaints about 1.03 but holy crap this is a huge improvement over that.

I put it through a variety of things, gravel roads, highways, interstate, city driving and its been great in all of the above. Its a drastic change for the better and exactly what his truck needed. First gear will get the truck moving in a hurry or throw dirt everywhere. You can basically use second gear whenever you want instead of having to flip back and forth between first and second gear.

One thing I wasn't expecting - Reverse is much improved. Reverse has always been a pain especially when loaded down or towing. I was able to creep backwards without giving it any gas or slipping the clutch like crazy. The truck would hover around 500 rpm and it didn't care if i was backing up a hill or what i was doing. It'll be interesting to see how it does when i hook up the trailer.

I've got quite a bit of traveling coming up this week, so I should have 500 or so miles on the tune by the end of the week and will report back

    EDIT: Couple side notes
    1) Flash manager is a stand alone executable and will download the tune files in its current directory. If your desktop is full of icons, it might be a pain to find the file. Put flash manager in a folder then download the tune.

    2) For my fellow taco friends living in a the arctic tundra, TAKE IT EASY. You will spin if you continue the habits you've learned off the factory or earlier tunes.

Thanks a lot for all your hard work @OVTune a lot of people are going to really love their trucks now

Just got back from running errands and a short trip to check highway performance. I can echo everyone else's reports, throttle is responsive and almost immediate with good power delivery from idle to the top end. Roads were icy and snow packed so I didn't get to crazy except in an empty parking lot :D
I put on about 25 miles mostly in town, stop and go traffic with average speed of 30-40 mph, 3rd gear is perfect for this cruising speed with enough power/throttle response to maneuver in traffic. I also took a short trip north of town to check highway performance,as I was about to turn around I noticed a car on one of the side roads that had pulled into a private drive and had made it about 25yrds before getting stuck.

The headlights were still on so I went to see if they were ok. Sure enough they were stuck good,he had buried his AWD Chrysler 300 right up to the center of the axles and was sunk in pretty good. I nosed up to his back end and looped my recovery strap though one of his rear wheels since there was no way to get underneath it to hook onto any thing.

I put it in 4 low, locked the rear diff and with three tugs he was moving and I pulled him all the way back to the main road. Keep in mind his tires were not turning since I was looped through one of his wheels. This thing has some power where you need it most now.....

    Annnnnnnnnnnnnnd she loves it!

Also got a weighted shifter a few days ago so that enhances things a bit.
