Thanks, have had the car now 19 years, hardtop on year round for the last 3. Really transforms the car.

Where are you in NC? I have a 2017 OR that has a little under 6000miles on it. I’ll likely be pulling the front shock/coils and rear shocks in the not too distant future. Will be selling the setup after that.

thanks for the help everyone :)

swapped out the hitachi for the bilsteins and its night and day diffference. Incredibly plush , im extremely happy.

I have another question for you now, if i wanted an inch or two higher in the front (noticed slight rubbing last time i took it on the trails) would some top hat spacers be appropriate? Will it end up making the front stiffer? im really just looking for enough clearance to allow my 265/70-17 not to rub in extreme situations..would a leveling spacer kit work for this purpose?

Most here won’t recommend a spacer however for light off road use a small spacer just for leveling would work perfectly fine. Otherwise you might be able to pick up some OME coils that provide a little bit of lift and still maintain ride quality.

i was under the impression that the OME coils were for 5100 setups..would they work on the stock bilsteins?

if i can find a spacer that will only give me a 1.5" lift i might go that route.

    thanks for your help!

You’re right just looked, assumed it would be the same as 4Runners where the OME 883 fits stock and provides about 1-1.5” lift. Toytec should have a small top plate spacer for exactly what you need.

I may have tweaked a few things...
How would you feel about the Hitachi’s if you rarely left pavement? I’ve seen some say that the OR set is better on road too but I am finding it rather loose for my tastes. And if I do go off pavement it’s just fire roads and I have to drive slow. The OR is definitely plush off road but I’m struggling with it on my setup and being mostly on the road.

the hitachis are very harsh on road in my opinion. I have since upgraded to bilstein 5100 with ome 887 coils and progressive 3 leaf aal in the back..still not as soft as i would hope. Does great offroad though. its amazing how smooth my car feels after i have been driving the tacoma for a few months.
