Just started driving my black/black '18 limited. Just about 1000 miles now. Made in Mexico. Came with Michelin LTX tires. No squeaks or rattles. Very smooth and quiet. Idle seems a little rough. Shifts are not noticeable when not paying attention or with the radio on. Goes up hills on cruise without hesitation.
From reading this forum I thought I would need the tune to be happy. Not the case at all. I seem to use more throttle pedal for given acceleration vs how much pedal I would in the Gen 2 so what? You put your foot in a little more off the line. Put your foot on the firewall and there is no doubt that the only way a gen 2 could keep up with my new 2018 is if it were connected with a tow strap.
Radio system is great. I am truly impressed with the quality, power, ride, brakes etc. ETC power switch makes it feel like it had gears at part throttle but makes no difference to normal mode with your foot on the firewall.
For everyone that doesn't like the way their truck drives all I can say is they must have got the engine/trans tune finally right and through emissions testing and make sure you get the latest updates.

I still think my 2nd gen rode smoother than my 3rd gen.

Agree, these 3.5’s can be stealthy and quick. A country mile seperates how happy I am now compared to how happy I was with the 4.0’s.

If you have not used the 4x4 traction control system, it’s stout.

Edit: Have the dealership check your rough idle. Mine is smooth and can barely be heard from inside the cabin.

    Congrats!

I also though power delivery was great at first (I had a 06 4.0) then it “learned” its way out of it.

The way the transmission "learns" seems kind of hit or miss to me. I've seen people comment about how it got better after about a thousand miles and some about how it got worse. In my case it seemed to really bog down at points when I first got the truck, now the odometer just hit 1k and it seems to hold the shifts a lot longer, even at partial throttle.
