There's also a lot of old spur roads that they decommissioned about 10yrs ago out there. Get more than 100yrds off the road and you'll find hidden or grown over Spurs you wouldn't even expect. I forget about them sometimes. They turned the old CCC road into a hiking trail, I used to drive it back in the day. Can't even tell it was once a road. You could drive from 8 miles in middle fork to the top of Mt Si.

About 13 years ago I lived out by Forks, worked DNR. Got to go all over out there, there are so many abandoned roads/spurs, all old logging routes. Once they log the area and replant there's typically no reason to keep the roads maintained

You can get to the back from a road off lake Hancock as well, if you have keys.

I was up there last summer. I purchased a permit for the Snoqualmie tree farm and tried to go that route above black Creek. The road to the top that way hasn't been maintained in over a decade, probably since weyerhauser sold it, and its pretty well fucked. Even @JimSnell wouldn't try to winch through it.

The company I work for decommissioned one of the main routes up to mt Tenerife and also mt si 5 or so years ago.

I usually have an eye for old skidder trails since I do quite a bit of work for various timber company's, including the DNR and nfs. I'll say to my copilot, oh there's a road, there's a road, and they look at me like I'm crazy. o_O

An unusually high amount of pinstriping.
Basically anything up through the Snoqualmie Tree Farm that's owned by the DNR or FS is either completely overgrown or the road has been abandoned. Who ever happens to be managing the Snoqualmie Tree Farm (it's Campbell Global right now) usually keeps their roads at least some what drivable, for the most part. That being said a good portion of the pinstriping on my truck has come from that tree farm.

There's definitely old cabins close to roads on the NF. I've ran into a few old hunting cabins that the Forest Service didn't realize were there, or more likely was that someone at the FS knew about it, but has since retired and now it's essentially been forgotten. I was thinking that he would have built it a little ways off the road due to the noise it would have created while building it and less chance of it being found. Most people out for recreation wont go more that a hundred yards or so from the road.

Ok, never do brakes on a CRV. My taco takes about 30 min per wheel. CRV is about 1 hour per and you need an electron microscope to make sure the pads are set in the clips.

@bobsuruncle when we used to train outside the east gate of Ft. Lewis we would find little camps littered with child pornography all the time. So often that we had to put together an S.O.P. of what to do, who to call, etc. Pretty disturbing.

There is a 4.5 year old who's mad at his dad for messing it up. He wanted to go see the "tent trucks".

JFC. When I was there I was told there were some units that searched for meth labs on the training ground but never heard of that.

FWIW it’s not a store just a corporate HQ (offices). Wish it was way more exciting than it is.
