Custom LED Map and Dome lights

My wife's Mazda can drive all day long without the fob lol. I had a remote start on a Silverado SS I used to have, and it would stay running unless you got in and hit the brakes. If you put the key in ignition and flipped it forward to "run" then the truck would never turn off and you could take off. Wish Toyota would come up with something like that that senses the fob inside and leaves it running, but if a door is opened somehow and no fob is present, the truck would turn off when the brake pedal is pressed. Oh well, maybe later on...

I felt the same for the first 3 months I had my truck. Swore off getting a remote start because it shut off when the door was opened. Then I decided heating/cooling before I got to the truck was way more important and having to start the truck after getting in was no big deal. I have been quite happy with my remote start now after a year of having it. Its nice knowing no one can drive off in my truck after I use the remote start.

I'm still trying to decide between the smoked or clear map lights, thoughts anyone?

 

Smoked is brighter than stock. Clear is brighter than smoked. Cant go wrong either way.

 

Do what I did. I have clear V1 maps and the ultimate dome. Ordered amber V1 and ultimate maps too. Whatever I decide to keep I may just sell the others either here or on craigslist. Or just keep them all and swap them out once in a while. Perhaps summer, fall and a set for winter through spring. It's only money. You can't take it with you.

@mesojdm, what is a SEM top coat? I've got basic LEDs in my maps now, would the smoked maps you have be the roughly the same or brighter? Thanks

 

SEM is a textured paint I apply over the top of the panels. It gives them more of a "texture" look like the surrounding OEM plastic, and also a nice satin finish.
I am not sure how the smoked compares to your existing LEDS(no clue what make/model you have) but they are bright without being too annoying.

 

Understand about not knowing how bright my LEDs are, was hoping with everything else you've done you'd tried every LED out there. Lol Going with the smoke, got older eyes.

Okay, sorry to hijack this thread, but standing,jumping,dancing next to my '16 TRDOR with the fob, no interior lights come on. Guess I'm going to have to read the manual

Not hijacking at all,is it locked?I have a 17 so I can't say if this was a feature on the 16 but id imagine so.Make sure your interior lights are set to auto on when doors open and lock the doors and it should work. I tested the range late last night and it seems on driver side with fob in pocket it activated at center of front or rear tire,give or take a few inches of course but roughly.
