Yeah my plan is for final install tomorrow. I’ve pretty much trimmed all that was in the way including the 2 fins on the radio that were contacting that nut/bolt near the floor. Overall not bad at all. When I mocked up the install it didn’t look like the actual radio mounting screw would be an issue but we shall see.

For what I test fit the 0.125 version fit the best. The other 2 left more of a gap nearer to the shifter.

This is how the bracket fits without the radio. Now that I look at it the screw might make contact just so, but we shall see. Everything else fit real nice the only difference with the 0.125 bracket is that the cooling fin needs more clearancing/tapering.

And you can see above and below I basically cut the white plastic even with the black plastic extending over from the console piece.

At first I didn’t cut it enough but it needs to be fully flush for sure.

And for the shifter bezel storage cubby cutout, I ended up having to cut more off the end nearest the two cup holders, it was too low and makes contact with the radio bracket.

Overall though everything fits nicely once room is made. Not a hard install at all.

As for the spacing side to side, there should be enough room in the slots on the bracket that it should center ok, the most important spacing is the front to back. I too found that the .125 fit the best tho. Did my pic showing the cut for the screw come thru in my last post?
As for my instal, I was able to snug the screws so that with some mild force, the radio could still slide in the slots side to side. I snapped the cover on and this centered up the radio side to side. And as gently as I could as to not move the radios side to side position, took the cover back off and then tighten the screws up.
Another instal tip is to route the antenna under the e-brake cable "V" thingy.

Really glad you decided to help! Thanks a ton!

Yes I did see your pic showing the trimming for the radio mounting screw.

So unfortunately I have somehow misplaced the 90 degree coax connector I bought online. I’m running LMR240 cable which doesn’t bend very well so need the 90 degree to complete the install. So unless I find it, it will be Tuesday when the next one I ordered comes in. Really bummed. Set it on the counter and either one of my cats snatched it and hid it somewhere or the damn thing has vanished to Narnia.

Edit: haha I found the stupid connector while diggin through my garbage. Somehow it ended up in there. So I’ll be finishing instal tomorrow

I did not end up clearancing the mounting screw in question. I basically unbolted the center console and detached the 2 pieces from each other to move it out of the way, fasten the screw, then bolted everything back together.

I do plan on going back and clearancing it ever so slightly just so the console isn’t in direct contact with the screw. Not a big deal at the moment.

Also the specific 90 degree coax adapter I bought wouldn’t work unless you clearance the actual bracket, however I had just enough clearance to allow my coax (stiff ass LMR240) to bend with no issues.

    Anyway here are pics:

Plenty of space to put the screw in
    A65ECDC5-CC61-45E3-A397-A1FEE04706C5.jpg

Pic below is prior to bolting things back. Screw will mate right up to the plastic with no extra clearance:

Also I’m a lazy ass and decided to just remove my CB and use the pre-run LMR240 I used for that for the Kenwood.
There was just not enough space to leave the CB box where it in it’s original vicinity to the new HAM bracket so it will be reinstalled somewhere else at a later date.

How’d it go? Are you happy with the .125” bracket? Or do you think it should shift a bit one way or another?

I think spacing wise the .125” fits perfect. I meant to take a couple measurements, just to see what the distance is both sides from radio to edge of the console piece. I’ll do that tonight.

So from my install in my truck I've got roughly ~1/8" space rearward, and ~1/16" forward. Side to side of course like @x250f23x said doesn't matter either way since the mounting holes for the radio itself are slotted and allow for adjustment side to side.

I'd guess the "perfect" bracket might then end up right between the 0.0625 offset and the 0.125, so 3/32"? Not sure if that is even worth it. Fits great regardless.

I would honestly buy the bracket so I could add a police siren with PA system

I've placed an order of 10, for the final production brackets. They should be ready to ship in about a month.

I'm not taking orders at the moment and I'm not starting any buyers list yet.

hmm looks cool, I'm planning on getting the TM-V71A and check the dimensions compared the the TM-281A. Very similar. When you have the brackets ready I'll order one to try out

That would be awesome if it fit! Just note that the TM-V71A is a top firing speaker, not a front firing like the Kenwood. You might need to run an external speaker.

Honestly I would be alright with this just center it. It wouldn’t be too bad

Right, I though about that, and also adding in spacers to the bracket for the radio to sit center.
