I will say the NHL needs to change the rule on shots to the goalies head. That’s twice this year goalies have shaken off their masks after being rung with a puck and both times the goal that occurred shortly after was waived off because of a quick whistle. The rule states that if their is an impending scoring opportunity then the play shouldn’t be whistled dead. If officials are just going to ignore the rule and blow the play dead when a goalie loses his mask even if the attacking team has procession, the rule might as well be changed to reflect that before it happens in a game that matters.

 

Haha like when a goalie loses his stick and removes his mask?

 

It's for player safety which is big now. Here is one where Quick's clasp is broken when he takes one to the mask. He pulls it off and ends up putting it back on since the refs arn't paying attention.

I’m aware why they are blowing the play down. However, that’s not how the rule is written. If they want to blow the play down in the situation I mentioned every time it happens then they need to change the rule.
