I looked at the Tradesman stuff they have at KK which they quoted me about $4500 to get a similar layout to the Rebel. I have a 2nd gen (because I am too chickenshit to get a 3rd gen, eventhough I would like a v6 and double cab).

I've been driving by that dealership on my way to work for the past week and been wondering how they were coming along on your truck.

I picked it up quite a few years ago. It's not to bad and I did get few ideas from it, but most of the drives were ones I had already "found" my self by looking over maps and talking to other people. There were also a few areas that weren't in the book that I was surprised weren't there. That being said, if you were new to the area it would be helpful.

Edit: Good lord $258 dollars for a thin paperback book? I need to find mine and see if there is gold somewhere in it. Even $25 for a used one is a bit steep. Stick with the paper maps.

Its out of print, but I managed to get the email of the author and he offered to sell me a PDF for like $15. Didnt know if it was worth it and forgot about it. I'll see if I can dig it up if youre interested.

I think you're getting the words hunting and stalking mixed up. The Starbucks girls are starting to notice, btw.

My AluCab leaks like a mofo. Leaks through the rubber trim around the window glass. Leaks through the rivets that hold the roof rack tracks on. Leaks around the perimeter of the side doors. And the gap between the tailgate and back hatch was big enough to put my hand through. The locks freeze, which wasn't a big deal, but the latches also freeze which is a pain in the ass. Plan on buying a tube of RTV and extra foam rubber bulb material to chase the leaks with. I picked mine up at Adventure Ready but did the install myself due to the shop guys being at SEMA. Tom was helpful and wanted to make things right, but part of the problem was on my end as I live a couple hours away and was leaving the country for a few months, so I couldn't really give them the opportunity to make it right. I've heard that they do good work, but most of the leaks I've had weren't obvious until we had a few good rains.

I was a bit bummed at the amount of work I had to do to make it right, but I'm handy and it wasn't the end of the world. I went with Alu Cab because of their construction and the vertical back hatch. There is a large section of bed rail that is exposed due to the bed rails tapering, which is a bit annoying cosmetically, but I found that it's possible to use that part of the bed rail to climb up onto the roof of the canopy without one of those old man Lexus Ladders that seem all the rage around here.

I'm also not sure what they used to coat the canopy, but it is super slippery when it's wet.

Oh, and of you already have Yakima roof rack stuff, their landing pads that are meant for roof tracks will fit the Alu Cab tracks

Another fun day at White Pass - shitloads of new snow. Saw another Taco in the lot, a white double cab with a rocket box over the cab. Road was clear even tho it was 15 degrees.

But holy crap my rig is a disgusting salt lick filth mobile right now.

Well that sucks. I spoke to Tom at AR today and almost drove up and bought the one they have in stock. Certainly not the end-user story I was hoping to hear but, thank you for the heads-up!!! I have little to zero tolerance for spending that kind of money and having any issues. I understand that Tom is awesome to deal with but...

Yeah, I hear you. I looked at them for a while and hadn't seen anything negative about them. It's also possible that I'm an outlier. I seem to be a magnet for "never seen this before" type of stuff. I was prepping to build my own canopy when my wife put her foot down and said no new projects til I finish at least three of my current ones. She wanted a canopy before I was gone for work and Alu Cab was the only one available on short notice with a vertical hatch. I've got the DCSB and didn't want to lose bed space due to a sloping window.
