PTR13-35150 - Bilstein TRD PRO kit - Upgrade??

I purchased the headstrong 3 leaf and I had to take my cutoff wheel to just the rear clamp. It was actually someone difficult to cut the rivet and hammer everything apart. I recommend cutting the rivet right in half so you can remove each side of the clamp, then cut the rest of the rivet off. It took me about 2 hrs to do the first side install. When I was tightening everything up I stripped the leaf spring pin threads and was left hanging. I had to take my wife's car to work today while I wait for new pins.

 

The HS definitely doesn't clear the rear. And the leafs orient with the longer end to the rear. The HS directions say you may need to do it.

 

Thanks. I've got the rivet just about ground off the rear clamp on the driver side. I read somewhere that you could use a pipe wrench to pry the clamp off. I'll be very careful when tightening the spring pin.

 

Question for the group that just popped into my head. What is it about the 3rd Gen TRD Pro suspension that does not result in the truck being nose high? A different leaf pack? I'm guessing the front coil overs are just tuned to keep it level (or slight rake).

Edit: the TRD Pro truck (stock) is what I'm referring to. Hopefully that makes sense.

 

Any 3 leafs out there you don't have to cut...?

 

Just realized I totally miss-read your question. I chose not to remove the front clamp. I thought it looked like it had plenty of clearance but now I might go take another look. I didn't even consider the front might have to be cut off.

Here are my post measurements. (I forgot to get pre-lift numbers, but i think everyones will be pretty close)

For reference- this is a 2.7 4x4 manual

Ground to Fender-
LF- 37.5 RF- 37.5
LR- 36.75 RR-37

Hub to Fender-
LF- 23 RF-23
LR- 23 RR-22.5

overall, its pretty dead level, with 20 miles on it so far. It may drop a bit more.
Note, i think my LR tire might be alittle low, so that may explain it being alittle lower on that corner. I have to check that.

 

Maybe a 2nd gen vs 3rd gen ? It almost looks like your longest AAL in the new pack is shorter than mine.

Yup, this is with an all stock rear. Having said that- I have a 1" block on its way since I'll have a cap on there in a few weeks. (on order), and... i like alittle rake.

 

Right on. I'm putting this on a 2017 access cab off road so it's great to see your after photo looking pretty level. I ordered an Icon add-a-leaf (three leaf progressive) just in case though. I only have a roof top tent that I put on when I go camping, otherwise I take it off.

Edit: Oh and I see you've got the 2.4L as well.

This weekend for over 2 days I worked on getting my suspension installed for Hard Shell Taco. Installed these Bilsteins and Headstrong 3 leaf AAL (Add a leaf). Working at night and alone isn’t the best thing to do but unfortunately it’s the only times I got toggling work and family. I don’t have precise measurements (sorry guys) but I got about 2 inches all around. Rear AAL I kept the overload spring in case of heavy load and future towing possibility also the hard topper dropped the rear stock. Ride is firmer on road but when hitting bumps it’s smooth. No offroading yet.

 

Went off roading today, nothing too crazy however from what I have noticed stuff that most people go on. Did it much faster than I ever thought I could. These were dirt roads to mud to big divets and things like that. Felt great and cruised through a lot of stuff.

Thanks to everyone that is getting these installed. I'm still on the fence about my rear set up (1.5" vs 2" leaf) and whether a 1/4" spacer is required for the front.
