I got a letter today from Nissan. The letter said that they would pay me above MSRP, for my 2004 Toyota Tacoma. They would then get me into a new Nissan for a low monthly payment. If I would bring my truck in, they would get me into a new Altima for $179/month! What a deal! I thought that was hilarious, and had a good laugh over it. Thought I would pass that along. Those poor Nissan folks will do anythng to get a good vehicle on their lot.

Nissan has good quality vehicles. Same with Hondas. All Japanese.

I got the same letter from the Hyundai dealership I bought my truck from.

Yes, Nissan makes great vehicles. But trade my truck for an Altima? They could have tried harder than that.

    Fixed that for you.

Nissan manages to build awesome engines and then hook them to mediocre drivetrains/suspensions. It's rather annoying. Their VQ series is an EXCELLENT batch of motors at any displacement...too bad they're in Nissan cars...

They used to be good before their "stagnation" of the 90s. They're still trying to recover.

My parents 2002 Murano with the 3.5L V6 and the CVT has been rather bullet proof. No tranny or engine problems to speak of. The body suspension and whole 9 yards are really quite impressive. I don't like the feel of the seats myself, but I'm built like a rail so they're a little flat for my liking.

Nissan is ok, and they usually have hot women working there..go for the women, not the trucks.

Agreed, the VQ is quite an engine family. I've had a 350Z and currently a Pathfinder. The motor is awesome. When I was a Nissan salesman (worst job ever) They showed us a "How it's Made" type video on the engines. Pretty cool even though it was a puff piece.

i got one like that from a chevy dealer. it said no matter what my monthly payment was, that they could lower my monthly payment or would give me a free oil change. so i called them up and asked how they could make my zero payment any lower? i didn't take the oil change since i don't have a chevy that needs one.

I'm willing to regard them as the exception rather than the rule to maintain my worldview.

I actually thought about Nissan before I got the Tacoma. I emailed both companies with what I wanted. I told myself, the first one to get back with me would have my business. Toyota emailed me back in 5 minutes, Nissan in 2 days. I already had my Tacoma on order by the time I heard from Nissan. Then they weren't even trying to give me what I wanted. They were trying to sell me something totally different. Toyota ruled once more. I shouldn't have even thought about changing brands.
