I will be adding a 2.5 lift and a block in the back that being said my Taco TRD comes with 16' wheels . When I buy new Rims and tires should I upgrade to 17' or stick with 16' ? Most likely going with BFG. Thoughts? Thanks in advance from the New guy

16s. You have an off road vehicle. Shoe it like one.

    Welcome.

There are way more tire options for 17" wheels. Even with bfg. If you go with 16s you will most likely be running E load rated tires where you could run a lighter tire on a 17". It's really up to you and how you will be using your truck.

I too am running 255/85 16s, but thinking of switching to 17s because of tire options (34s or 35s)

I was considering the same question and I stuck with 16s. Found the wheel and tire I wanted in a 16 and it cost less than the same tire size on a 17in wheel. I didn't feel like 17 was an upgrade and it left a little more cash in the ol wallet to buy more stuff I don't need

Thanks was thinking along the same line of saving a few bucks with a 16'. What spec's on your tire if I may ask?

I wanted 265/75r16 on my 17 OR. I ordered the 4Runner TRD wheels in 17” so I had more tire options with the 265/70r17. I did not want E load tires. Looks like Terra Grapplers for me when the wheels come in.

Where'd you end up ordering your wheels from? I'm interested in a set. Good price?

My buddy recently bought a 2013 F-150 Platinum 4x4. It had 22's on it with "Off road" styled tread and he hit a pot hole and shattered the rim and a few other steering components on that side. Don't be that guy haha.

I would go 16s, but it'a your truck and most guys on here will respect your choice. Welcome to the forum

If you are looking at larger tires, then with a 17 rim you will still have the same sidewall if not more. 265/70/17 would be the same sidewall just 1 inch taller. If you are wanting to stay stock size, stick with 16 in rims, otherwise you sacrifice sidewall if you are ever looking to offroad

Okay so these are -19mm offset wheels with a 10mm spacer, or -29mm total. This represents the absolute limit of offset you can run in this size without significant rubbing. I did a CMC and used a hairdryer on my plastics and I now dont rub anywhere, reverse, forwards, stuffed, doesnt matter.

The acceptable range is anywhere between +25mm (stock wheels) up to -29mm far as I can tell. more negative you go, the further the outside of the tire will sit outside of the wheelwell.

Its also important to remember that width of the wheel is important here. I can get such a large range of offset because my wheels are only 7" wide, the wider the wheel is the more you have to center it to avoid rubbing the outside of the tire/contact with the UCA of the inside of the tire. Does this help?

It does help, but I'm looking at some 16x8s Procomps and I can only seem to find ones that have a 4.25" backspacing and a -6.35mm offset. those should work hypothetically, right? I want mine to be at least flush, if not an inch MAX out of the fender well.

I'm actually finding them all low as 2.25" backspacing but I don't really want to go below 4"

I did find some though, at 4WP that have a -44 offset and a 4.25" back spacing. Would those stick out too much? I do plan on lifting it at some point also, and for the time being, I will run stock tires.

Also, can I use my TPMS sensors from my factory OR wheels in the steel wheels? I don't really think that there should be an issue but I really don't know.

OH! Did you use centric rings or did you get tapered lug nuts? What about a center cap?

I'm sorry that I'm bombarding you with questions...
