What Rob said! I had the grille painted. You are correct, insert does not fit the OEM outer surround bezel. I tried that first before I had the surround painted to match.

Yea, I have carried it over from my Tundra to the 4Runner and now to the Taco. Paint is nice and thick. Well, and also besides all those cool uses you pointed out, it also protects your bumper really well from parking lot idiots. It can be a little slippery when wet though. You can add non-skid tape if it's an issue.

Another thing I like about it is the angle of the wings are more forgiving if you forget it's there and walk across the back of the truck into it. Most straight bars or hitches will break skin on a shin.

It will not cave in or bend like tubes.

Sometimes it's the little, easy things that make the most impact. Great job!

This is not really Taco related, but this weekend I also whipped up a much needed garage workbench. Still needs a vice and stuff.

I don't get the whole "debadge" thing.

I'm all about leaving it "as-is" and preserving it in a pristine state after getting it dirty as fukk.

Maybe I'm just odd.....but I like my shyt as is.

    No disrespect...I just don't comprende.

I took the 4X4 off the tailgate for two reasons. One, I wanted to see how hard it was to do, and two, it seemed like there should be something on the other side to even it out. My door badges are staying and will be black, and I am putting black pin stripes and bedside decals when I remove what's there. But I am old too. As a matter of fact, I may add more stripes down the center, nose to tail. It's a Sport, I want to sporty it up. :D

I agree to a point. I find it funny when you see a Honda without the H on the grill etc..., but when the car maker loads lots a crap on a vehicle like V6, 4x4, etc..., it's just too much. I love my derped TACOMA on the front doors, and on the Tailgate!
