I ordered the plug'n'play remote starter for my 2018 Tacoma with push button. The first wire harness that came with it was defective and they sent me a new one. The second one arrived today (this harness does not have the t-connection for the OBD2 ports I noticed; just the 30 pin and the 7 pin). This time the install went okay and the 3-button start works except now my truck thinks thinks the hood is unlatched. I thought perhaps one of the connections was bad so I checked everything; remove the harness and the issue still persist. If I remove the t-connections entirely everything is fine and the warning goes away. Another bad harness?

Removing the panels on the Tacoma is not much fun and I am getting a little frustrated with this. Has anyone else had this issue at all?

I just received mine and installed it yesterday. I have not ran into the issue you have. I currently am experiencing that I can no longer run the Auto Setting on my lights. Where previously, I always kept my lights on auto just so they would automatically set themselves. I am not sure if this is intended or what. I have left them a voicemail today. I don't think they are open today and will try a call to them tomorrow. Other than that the install really only took about 30 minutes. I ran into a small wire issue that pulled out, but I crammed the wire back in and gorilla glued it.

Did your harness have a t-connection for the OBD2 port? I hope the lights function as they should after this install.

My harness did not have the OBD2 ports. I only had to connect the 30 pin and the 7 pin. I hope the phone call tomorrow provides some feedback. Again I am not sure if that is the way this override works, as I do enjoy just setting the Auto lights on the switch and forgetting about it, but I don't know yet. I got in this morning and noticed the Auto lights didn't flip over to the normal headlight mode nor did my console (speedo and tach) lights pop up.

i ordered mine thursday of last week and was expecting it to arrive tuesday. last saturday, while i was painting my dash panels, i received an email saying that my 12 volt package has been delivered. to my surprise, i ran out and checked the mail and it was actually there. so in between coats for my dash panels, i was actually installing the remote start. took me longer to remove the covers than installing the unit. i also bought the smart start module for the phone and that one was a simple plug and play as well. by the time i was done installing, went back to paint another coat for my dash panels. really satisfied and happy with my purchase. @12voltsolution

That is good to know. Everything looks really well put together so this is what surprises me that I am having these issues. I took it out for now because I don't want to drive around with my ECU thinking my hood is open. I will connect with them tomorrow to see what is going on.

I talked to the guys at 12 volt and they truly are great to work with. Inspecting my 30 pin I had a missing pin which was causing the issue. I stole one from the old harness and replaced it. All is working perfect now! I highly recommend this kit to anyone that doesn't want to splice wires.
