Buying shocks..want to make sure they're the right ones

I want to get 5100's for my front shocks, looking at several websites. However a lot of them have crap search functions, or no option to select 4x4 as a filter, etc.
I have a 2001 TRD off road 4x4 SR5.
here are the ones I've found so far:

Just in case I'm wrong in my research- I don't have interest in lifting right now and do dirt/rocky frequently enough to need it but not daily.

 

just look at pre runners, same suspension design but no 4x4

 

I've been told by someone that the 4x4's are different part- or is it just the coil?

 

The coils vary in length slightly depending on the package the truck came with (like 5mm or something like that). Although that shouldn't affect what 5100 you use as long as it works with a 4x4 or Prerunner.

Wait wait wait.
Just a heads up some are sold in pairs and some separately. Also I believe the rears have 2 different part numbers (one is longer one is shorter). Also the 5100s some have 3 snap ring groves some have 4 so again different part numbers and prices.

 

What is the difference in the 3 groove and the 4?

 

"We now have these in two different versions. We have the original BE5-D558-TO shock that has been around for years (built by Bilstein exclusively for Race Car Dynamics) as well as the new 24-249928 available directly from Bilstein.

The 24-249928 has 4 spring seat clip grooves and the BE5-D558-TO has 3 spring seat clip grooves. The 4th clip groove on 24-249928 is slightly higher than D558’s highest clip groove which indicates that it has the ability to provide more lift or preload than D558. The 24-249928 includes two front bumpstop spacers (big washers) for use when utilizing the 4th (highest) groove."
