Changing differential fluid - A step by step "HOW TO"

What I gather:
Front Diff: 1.59 quarts 75W-85
Rear Diff: 3.12 quarts 75W-85
Transfer Case: 1.1 quarts

Another thread confused me with the TRAC vs A-TRAC differences and posts....

So with a 2015 TRD Off Road.... would I need the LS additive that I can buy already pre added to the Mobil 1 Oil?
Also I'll have to go back and find the part # or link to the crush washer/gaskets for the differentials/transfer case..

 

No for the LSD additive. That’s for Sport Models. If you live near a dealer, i would just go there. I think the crush washers are like a dollar and some change.

I'll swing by the dealer... or call them for a parts # and then maybe look em up on Amazon and compare prices.... maybe ask the dealer if they price match (doubt it-- but worth a try)

 

So I found the gaskets on Amazon (Prime)
..heard from other TW members also that even if you don't need LS (Off Road models) you can use oil that has the LS additive, however if you need the LS additive (Sport models), you cannot go without it

Also is the difference between 85 and 90 reason enough to not just order 6 quarts of the Mobil 1 104361

75w-90 and did them all. Front diff needs the hand pump just fyi. T case and rear you can pour /squeeze in pretty easy. I cleaned and reused my gaskets and haven't had any issues in last 5000 miles. I'm sure your 2015 will be hardly worn as my 2014 was still good.

just use mobil 1 75-90 should be good.

75w-90 with LS (even though TRD models don't need it) but it's a hell of a lot cheaper than others.
I'll report back how it goes, but from what I've read, other guys use it and I haven't read of any complaints

From what I've read, if you have the TRD Sport model then you need LS additive
If you have the TRD Off-Road model then you do not need LS additive

 

True for 2005-2008 only. 2009 onward don’t need LS additive. Been discussed many times in this thread.

 

I won't have to touch my truck for 7 years, as I am covered by Toyota for 7 years.

 

For right now yes, I got 5 extra years of coverage
As I read my manual, they say outside work may void the warranty. O only have 3000 miles on it.

Is there a fill level or do you just keep filling til it reaches the top plug threads?

 

At my age, 64 I'm too old to crawl under trucks. And with 3000 miles on the truck, it will be yearts before that will need to be changed. I may have another truck by then!!

Supposedly some of this needs to be done at 30k

 

At less than 10,000 miles a year, that will be in 3 years. I might be able to do it.
