I live in Mountain View of the Bay Area. I work in autonomous technology and spend everyday driving around all over the Bay (101, 280, 82, 880, 92, etc.) for work and never seen a Tacoma of any generation on the side of the road with their hazards on.

This is a perfect example of the lack of probability for breakdowns on Tacomas.

Therefore, I would conclude that Tacomas never break down! :)

    Really?

The third gen has more power, is quicker, is quieter, 1 inch taller, apparently more traction control help for all models......

Maybe you should just spare us the drama and sell your truck already.

anyone who thinks consumer reports is a reliable, unbiased reviewer is living under a rock, they haven't been reliable for years. Pay them or get a bad score, that's all. I'd also love to see the stats about used car sales @4.0L because I think you might be adding in some exaggeration to put it nicely

I'm 68 and owned five Toy pick-ups. I've never that's never seen a Tacoma sitting beside the road. I lived in the Bay Area 1990-2013.

Stop asking comments about probability until you UNDERSTAND the laws of probability. It is MATH. It is QUANTITATIVE. It is a calculation not an opinion.

We read your jelly bean analogy and it is abundantly clear you have no concept of probability or you are so busy speaking out your ass you don’t even reread your own post to see how asinine your comments are.

Since you claim the jelly beans are evenly distributed (not random) your whole argument is nonsense. There are 100 green beans based on YOUR numbers. If your handful is 2 beans your analogy is possible and there is a positive probability. As your handful size increases your probability decreases to the impossible. It can be calculated how many green beans are in a sample size when evenly distributed and can be scaled to larger size samples. Once again math is crushing your bullshit. While 50% green beans are possible in a sample size of 2 once you increase to a sample size of 3 (only full beans not partial and rounding up if nessecary) it is a mathematical impossibility or you have to concede the beans are not evenly distributed.

There were 2 trucks at the side of the road. With no data even observational to confirm or at least plausibly argue there was in fact a breakdown you have made unsubstantiated claims, assumptions and conclusions. Like your jelly bean analogy you are deciding the outcome and making an arguement that you feel will support your conclusions. Your math doesn’t add up when scrutinized. Your conclusions are delusional and there is no merit to your arguments. The only thing that can be concluded without more hard facts is there were 2 trucks at the side of the road in one week. That is fact (based on your claimed observations). Anything beyond that is pure SPECULATION until you can provide more factual data. So stop using words you have no idea their meaning or how their concepts actually work.

    Okay

First. get lost with your tough guy talk and your CAPS locks. You're screaming at me for what reason I don't know, but you seem like a big asshole with a lot pent up anger towards life in general.

Second. I wrote that "It is said that there are 1 green bean for every 1000"-- meaning it's speculated that there are 1-in-1000 green beans. If I pull two handfuls in a population that is evenly distributed (ensuring that beans are put back and evenly distributed after every pull) it becomes very unlikely that the actual population has 1 green bean per every 1000. Given the fact pattern, it's nearly impossible to grab even one handful and get 50% green beans.

Back to the Tacoma 3rd gen, 400K were sold and 200K were recalled for bad differentials, 25K were recalled for faulty CPS. In states like Colorado, Hawaii and California, where most of these have been sold, and given the actual population, I don't think is unlikely to see a breakdown due to either of these manufacturing defects.

Nothing wrong with the combo. Programming could be a little better. It likes to go into the higher gears when the demand for power is needed. Not a good choice. I drive up and down mountains all the time. I simply put it in Sport mode so it doesn't go into 5th and 6th and call it a day, that's rare tho.
