What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

ah okay so they were 4runners.

That was our point haha tacomas elockers are all 4.10. 4runners came with 4.30s sometimes. 4runner diffs were all over the map, even had 4.88s.

When I pulled mine out I forgot to break it loose before taking it off the truck. One quick ugga dugga from the impact and the nut zipped off.

The end of the pinion on a factory 4:10 is painted blue were the 4:30 is painted black I believe. Easy way to do a quick check..

Finished slapping in some new shocks and springs on the front. Pretty sad the old front suspension was sagging 2 whole inches. It was a half inch from bump stops sitting still. It was super nice assembling them out of the truck.
In the 1year and 4mo I have owned the truck, its racked up 33,847mi!!!
Now Im dealing with what might be a clogged radiator, either way I will spring for a 2.4L aluminum radiator and new hoses.

Now just waiting on new tires to come in.

 

Huh... it's beyond me why parking and leaving it in gear would put extra wear on the starter but all I can say is I've been parking like that in all my vehicles since 1991. Never had an issue with a starter before, including on my Tacoma which I've not put 215,000 miles on with my ass in the seat.

 

Yeah I realized the different back spacing. I am confused on your 1st gen spares comment. 96-99 my 04 has the smaller backspacing. My wheels were not all stamped the same. So I measured hub dia and backspacing, the 4 i got all match my 04 spare. NOT the 05 spare with 5.25 back spacing.
