What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

I think I've only ever used that once. When I stalled out on a steep rocky climb and didn't want to be out of gear starting back up.

 

96-99 have smaller holes going around. I’m pretty sure that’s the only difference, but I could be wrong once again, like I said, he did all the leg work

I don’t know if any of you are looking, what condition it’s in, or if it’ll even work with our trucks (different sizes?), seems like it’s a “package” deal.

All shocks are dropped off at SDHQ to be rebuilt. I'm amazed at how short their estimated turn around is too, they say I should be able to pick them all up Thursday.

Yeah, super nice guys there too. Now I have to figure out why the cruiser is leaking on my driveway, made one hell of a puddle last night. Hope it is something stupid I overlooked last night when I changed the oil but I don't think so, seem like the leak was coming from high up and I already checked the valve cover bolts.

So just for shits and giggles I decided to try shifting the truck into 4HI (with the hubs in free) going about 20 MPH. When I held the shifter and tried pulling it there was this bad grinding noise and the shifter would vibrate violently. It doesn't do this when you're at a stop.

I'm guessing that's not normal?

Yes that's normal. Don't do that!

 

Yes normal. Don't do that. With the hubs free and the transfer case in 2wd, the front drive shaft is stationary. When you tried to put it in 4wd the transfer case gears were spinning and you tried to marry that up to a drive shaft shaft that was stationary. Again, don't do that!
