Ok First trailer project is complete. I had a local fab shop make a "slider" for the dump pipes. Nothing crazy but should provide a little oops protection for the lowest hanging most fragile area.

 

That’s a great idea, I’m going to steal that one for sure.

SO HAPPY with the new rubber!!!! Looks so good!!! For how aggressive the tread is these things are amazingly quiet and smooth!! Also load range E so rolling resistance should go down with the camper and I've read great things about low psi performance.

 

These things are heavy duty!

Just talked to the RV shop and may have them welded on as soon as Monday.

 

Are they ride height adjustable or preset to a specific height?

 

They are fixed ride height but there are three options. 4" lift, 4" drop and standard. The 4" lift version is right about where our trailer rides right now.

 

@Jorgy1 What does your statecraft frame look like? Do you dual propane and dual batteries? I'm more concerned about something like happening with the extra weight I'll be adding to the tounge.

Our frame is 2x4 box tube .25 I think. I'm contemplating running some ladder brace on the tounge area.

My frame dimensions look to be the same as yours. On this trailer I had a custom bracket made at a local fab shop to hold 2 group 31 plastic battery boxes. I chose this route as I couldn’t fit a harbor freight box (like my last trailer) on the tongue like I wanted. The weight distribution mounts on the a-frame are what caused my problems). I put some remote battery posts on top of one of the boxes for battery charging.

I chose to go with a single 40lb propane tank on this trailer rather than the dual 20s’ for simplicity. I found and awesome off road friendly tank mount on eBay that I just love (super easy to pull the tank off and super secure).

With this setup I don’t think I’m exceeding the a-frame strength, but who knows. If you have yours strengthened it sure wouldn’t hurt and would provide great peace of mind.

I'm having to remove the lever type chain attachments for the WDH we have now and go with bolt on chain hangers so I can fit the battery box. I upgraded tounge jack since I'll have to lift the tounge and rear of the truck up higher to get the chains on now.

Are you running 6 volt batteries in series or 12 volt parallel? My next decision....

 

I’m running 2 group 31 12v batteries in parallel. I know a lot of RV guys swear by the dual 6v, but my thinking on that is if something happens to one of the batteries in the 6v system you have only 6v and nothing will work, with 2 12’s in the same situation you still have 12v (and I have seen batteries just go kaput before)

 

I think you just made my mind up. I was wondering about that too. I'd need to have a minimum of four 6 volt batteries to have any redundancy for 1 battery failure.
I plan on adding a couple DC outlets and skipping the inverter so 4 batteries might be a bit much for LED lights and fantastic fan lol.

 

Just dropped the trailer off at the RV shop. The shop has expierence building custom coilover trailing arm suspensions for trailers and they got really excited when they saw the Timbrens, which got me super pumped! They may build a sub structure to lift the trailer to clear the bigger tires but I asked to try to keep it as low as possible while still allowing for full wheel travel. Really excited to see how it comes out

They're also welding on 30" stabilizers on all 4 corners and a bulldog 12500lb collar lock coupler which will increase ball rotation by about 15 degrees and will probably tear the taco in half before letting go.

The lock and roll coupler is super cool but it has some bending issues while backing with trailers of this size.
