This is Anchorage. Crackheads and drunks stealing it and trying to sell it in a parking lot down the road is a bigger danger.

No topper, but it’s locked in the cab. On the trip back home tomorrow I’ll keep it tied down in the bed.

What do you think of the RTIC cooler? All I know so far is that it’s the ‘as good as’ Yeti, and there’s no way I’d pay for a Yeti. And that most people buy them as some sort of status symbol beer cooler, not how they’re meant to be used.

Found a local place that has pork belly and brisket...I think they said about $3.14 a lb for pork belly and $2.90 a lb for brisket...Beats walmart by a lot!

You know, I’ve actually looked at both Anchorage locations, and I haven’t found them at either. That’s actually quite surprising given the ubiquity of large coolers for fish and game up here, but even employees of the stores are flabbergasted.

You have to be kidding me. There are four different sizes in So Cal. I would be sure they would have ones big enough to store a moose in up there.

I may have used that same phrase, my dude. Last time I checked was in summer, too, when that stuff actually mattered. This time of year Costco has pallets of boots and flannel shirts and - for some strange reason - some really bored looking guy from Lennox trying to sell air conditioners. It figuratively blows my mind.

Oh well, at least they have nice large briskets at a decent price.

Never understood the whole Yeti thing. They are so massively over priced it's not funny.

You can butcher them yourself to separate the drummette from the flat, its easy once you find where to do it and get the hang of it. Or... I know our Kroger always has huge bags of wings already separated in the frozen section. I have used them several times when I am short on time and need a lot, and they turn out fine.

Ya I've been tossing around getting one of the RTIC 65. If I see a deal too good to pass up I will probably jump on it. Would be nice for when we go camping, the cooler we have now just doesn't keep ice cold for long.

I'm with you on that. I have an RTIC and an Orca. But I don't fault Yeti. if they can still sell what they sell for as much as they sell it for... Congrats to them. They've branded extremely well and have most people convinced that if it's not a Yeti, it's not as good. While there may be some truth to that, most people don't even need a rotomolded cooler, but they are nice. The Orca I have is 140 qt and I got it primarily for transporting my deer from Nebraska back to Austin while visiting family in between. The need for multi day frozen capability drove my original purchase. and I got the 140 qt for $300 which I fell was well worth it. Now, the smaller RTICs I have, they are just nice to have although overkill for my uses really.

But again, I'm not going to hold it against Yeti for their prices. (not saying you are) Just making an observation and rambling on as I wait for lunchtime

What @Chrisf06 said. It is the whole wing, I cut off the wing tip then separate the drum and wing. Took me a bit to get the hang of it, first time I used big kitchen scissors, after that I did it with a chef's knife and it was way easier

I have the same setup except switched sizes my rtic is my bigger one and my orca is my small, one. Which for myself camping a couple days is perfect. I,could almost use a 35 or so. Both really good quality though

I have 3 and use them all the time. Yep, they work great as beer coolers. They also work great for keeping groceries for a week in the mountains and keeping Gatorade and bait cold for days on the ocean. I’ve done both. Great for extra seating/standing (fishing platform) as well.

Heck no I don't fault them for making any $ they can. If people will pay it then good for them. Myself I'm too damn stingy to pay that kind of money.

I thought I had found an RTIC 65 new for $130 but it was sold out.
