2016 gauge pod

Hey everyone,
Has anyone found a good way to mount gauge pods, I know on the last gen you could mount to the a pillar. I have searched the forums and internet but have not found anything.

Has anyone mounted any gauges?

 

Well, I just searched for the same thing and found your thread. I’m hoping that something comes out soon.

 

what gauges are you running?

 

I was planning on running MaxTow gauges, I would like to put an oil temp, water temp, and transmission temp gauge. They are standard size just over 2" per gauge. I bought for my other vehicle and really like the way they look.

 

I’ve been considering either one of these two..I’m sure you’ve seen them.

Get a BlendMount:

Installation will take about 10 minutes and you’ll have everything you want, plus lots of extra gauges, a code reader, and some other helpful options.

 

WelL....since Toyota stripped our grab handles, naturally some A-pillar Autometer gauges. Triple pod.

 

Hopefully the airbag wouldn’t send the gauges into your face at MACH 2

Thanks for the suggestions. I think the ScanGauge II may be the way to go as there are a few places I can mount it. I looked at the BlendMount and unfortunately that does not ship to Canada, but there is probably something similar here.

 

OK, so doing some additional research, the scan gauge will do the trans temp, but not the engine oil temp. I kinda wanted the oil temp as well. So more thinking is needed.........

This is what I use. OBD Fusion app (free) with bluetooth OBD2 reader ($25). In app purchase of Tacoma specific PIDs for $10 gets you everything you could possibly want to monitor.

This is fantastic. I've used Torque on Android with my FJ but I'm all iOS now. It looks like ODB Fusion will get me what I want, specifically Engine oil and trans temps! Thanks for sharing as I hadn't heard of ODB Fusion before.

 

OK, I have to ask, what did you do to get OBD Fusion to work? I have a different WiFi OBD reader that I used with my BMW's and it appears to work, however even after purchasing the 2017 PID's I just get the basics. How did you get your 2017 PID's to show up for use?

 

Go to the dasboard then hit the 3 dots in the lower left corner to add whatever display you want. There is a search function to use after you choose "add display"

 

Thanks for the reply! I was able to add display's, but none of my displays give me the options you have. All I have are default OBD metrics, none are Toyota specific. I want the temperature display's you've got, specifically for engine oil and transmission temperature.

I've sent an email to the vendor asking what's going on. I know you're on Android with a bluetooth OBD2 reader and I'm on iOS with a wifi one, but that shouldn't make a difference. I update this post once I hear back from them.

 

Have you tried Torque Pro ? Just wondering if you did and pros cons.

It reads front differential temp ???
Didn't know a sensor was in there.
