Have you test driven both (back to back) for comparison? If you aren't going to off-road then I think the Sport, it is better handling on road. As far as re-sale... I see this all the time, but who knows 10 years down the road about this sort of thing, it's all conjecture. I purchased my Harley at the height of the market and when they were hard to come by, when it was time to sell it was a different story... they had upped their production and easy to find. Fortunately I had cared for it well and found a good buyer who appreciated it and I got out of it without taking a bath, but I definitely didn't make money as some had done during the craze. From all we know now, you cannot go wrong selling your Tacoma... But going into it with the idea of selling it later you're going to take a hit one way or another. Buy what fits your needs now and how you predict your future needs and likes will be.

Am I missing something? My 2nd gen had this feature, but I don't remember seeing this on my 3rd gen..

My son has a 2017 double cab short bed sport and on the way heme from buying it I was surprised how firm the suspension was. Borderline harsh in my opinion.

I have a 2017 double cab long bed off-road and it rides much nicer in my opinion. I tow a 4000 pound travel trailer with mine and it’s been great doing so. Well except for the mpg. :).

The sport will defiantly corner better with less body roll but the off-road isn’t unsafe feeling in corners either.

Wish I could use the locker in 2wd without any wiring mods. Seems kinda stupid to have open diffs unless in 4wd low with an off-road version.

Sit in both, the 3rd gen is already is a bit challenging to see over the longer nose, the scoop just magnifies this.

No scoop for me at all, hate that they installed it in the Pro.

I test drove a pro. The visibility with the scoop was so absurd. I could not imagine driving up little woops and hills on the trail and seeing jack shit until you leveled out on top... it’s already bad enough as it is lol. If I had ended up with any config that had a scoop I would remove it ASAP. You can’t see when off roading anywhere that isn’t flat.

I have the DCSB Sport MT and love it! However, if you are going to go off road, I would want the locker for "just in case" scenario. You also get the brake booster, but all the other electronic crap I could do without. Looking back, if they had my exact truck in a off-road on the lot, I would have looked at. Would I trade my Sport for a Off-road today, not a chance in hell.

I was lucky enough to have the choice between the Sport and an OR, both in the same color and both manual transmission. Test drove them back to back, and didn't care for the stiffer ride of the sport; however if you are going to upgrade suspension/tires anyways this point is moot. I also found the skewp to be distracting from the drivers seat. Looked cool from the outside I suppose, but wasn't worth the limited visibility.

But for the same amount of money as the OR, what are you really getting extra?

If you didn't want the additional electronic aids from the OR the Sport is missing then why pay as if you're getting them?

Depends upon how you're going to use it. 98% of the time I'm on road and maybe 1-2% in snow/off-road. I went with sport MT since all the ORs were Auto. I am coming from a 2010 Camaro MT which had the worst visibility ever therefore I really don't mind the hood scoop. I might slap a led product in there since it can't be functional for air. Sport does have a beefier sway bar and firm suspension which I prefer for highway driving. You definitely get more value with OR in terms of a "product". Again, it all comes down to your usage/needs. If you expect to be off-road at least 10% of the time then go with the OR.

    It does and is.
But it's still not a locker.

+1 for Sport. I don't go off roading, so the convenience features like sunroof and heated seats are what I'd rather have than the locker.

And is used in all modes unlike the offroad where the locker can only be used in 4wd low unless you modify the wiring.

Good to hear, they weren't when I got my 17 at least up here. For Can., I still think you can't get the MT in the OR DC, you can in the AC, that's a deal breaker. The OR also has the TPMS which I've had before and would rather not have.

Just a note, The hill hold for automatics in the OR is CRAP in my opinion. Doesn't hold shit. Probably the biggest misadvertised item on the truck in my opinion.
