I drink Beam 90% of the time. Every now and then I will drink some good stuff, and that will be straight up. I could drink Beam straight up, but the problem is I drink it too quick, so I end up getting way drunker than I intended. Cutting it helps.

Black coffee is the only way to go!

Exactly. Takes a little time to get used to but once you do, man, tastes way better and basically no calories.

That's the biggest change for me - dropping sodas and switching to black coffee / unsweetened tea / water as my only non-alcoholic beverages had a huge health benefit.

Also limiting myself to the beer quantity. Still drink a little beer, but mostly now it's the clear alcohol: Vodka (Tito's FTW) and Tequila. Also a good craft bourbon while camping / backpacking. :drunk:

Just gotta jump in feet first. You could either go "cold turkey" with the creamer, or you could slowly reduce the amount of creamer you're using. You will eventually get used to it. But, it is so much better because you actually taste the coffee, instead of the creamer. I don't have the science to back it up, but I think the sugar interferes with the caffeine. I mean, with no sugar, you're just feeling the effects of pure, unadulterated caffeine, instead of getting your brain all clouded with sugar.

I can drop creamer w/out any issue and drink it "black + sugar".... but the sugar is going to be the hard part. haha

Ah, yes. I guess you could just ween off the sugar, but that shit is super addictive.

In my case I went cold turkey. For perspective my coffee used to be more creamer than coffee - that International Delight stuff - so that's mostly what I tasted.

Once I started buying high quality coffee beans and grinding them myself, it made it a lot easier to appreciate the taste of the coffee.

    This, this, this.

Sugar is the thing you need to be able to kick. It's incredibly addictive, almost drug like, and can really F up your health. Don't believe me? Try not using it for a week and that means going without anything that has high doses of sugar in it.

My dad was a diabetic and my own blood sugar levels were getting pretty high. Saw a nutritionist and she kicked the sugar out of my diet as much as possible and the results were dramatic. 25lb weight loss, better sleeping, feeling better, etc.

You can totally do it Caleb, not really that hard. Go into it saying it will suck and guess what - it will suck. Go into it saying this will be so much better for your body and it makes it much easier; just focus on what you want out of it and ask yourself when you reach for something you've sworn off (sugar for example) who is stronger? You or that little white crap. ;)
