Is a switch needed for the Navigation speed bypass? Can you simply cut the speed sensor wire (Pin 17)?

Sorry if this was addressed already....I didn’t see it.

Switch MAY needed on some Taco if Navigation didn't acquire GPS signal fast enough.
Meaning if you are not plan to use Navigation, don't care or don't have Navigation system then don't need switch.

Can the AV speed override be wired to an OEM style switch as well? Maybe a dual purpose switch?

Any on/off switch will do the job.

And just to confirm most people just leave it on and hide it away with no problem with the nav?

I sent you payment and address in the notes. Thanks again

I mounted the switch under the steering column. I need to switch it to enable the speed sensor to use navigation, the voice guidance won't start with the speed switch disabled - even though the map will still update with my current location.

Just to note that in my case, everything works great with the switch on override permanently. It could have something to do with the option packages, different model years, or ??

@941taco Test it out for a day or two and see how it acts. It takes a 10min or so drive for the navi to start updating after you flick the switch. After that first wait, it is immediate until the switch is flipped off.

Have you tried using the navigation with a destination selected? Mine keeps repeating "Proceed to the highlighted route and the the voice guidance will begin" (or something similar to that) while I'm driving along the highlighted route on the map.

Yes (and sorry!). It has given me accurate voice guidance and has even updated both the display and guidance due to traffic.

Depending on cell coverage and such, I have been bouncing between it, Waze, G-maps, and my offline map app (CoPilot GPS). The part that puts the Entune navi in the mix is the breadcrumbs and the decent sync with the phone data. They help me a lot because I am extremely navigationally challenged.

I hear you. I am usually not that lucky!

I was just out solo on some forest service roads and felt a lot of confidence with this layered system. I might not have attempted it alone otherwise.

I would go to the dealer and tell them the head unit is freezing and you would like to update to the latest software. The only variation i can see would be the software revision since you have like hardware.

I'll install and test when i get mine. Hoping for smooth operation and never having to touch the switch ever. I don't use the nav just look at the map anyway, but i don't like the thought of lost functionality

Can you elaborate on this? I use my front camera for wheeling but hate that it cuts out my FM and XM music.

There are numerous way to input video signals into HU. Allow me to explain 2 common ways that everybody can understand:
    1. Tap into Rear Camera signal and use switch to toggle between Rear or Front Camera signal. The advantage is only video is changing, audio still playing such as AM/FM/XM ...etc. Disadvantage is complicated and required hand on soldering, no other source can be use such as media player or smartphone mirroring. Kit may available from other Vendors which built from my design and may cost few hundred dollars. ...etc.
    2. Use A/V as an input for video signal to the HU. The advantage is simple, easy to prep. and can be use as smartphone mirroring, front camera signal or media player ...etc. Disadvantage is upon selected A/V option, only audio can hear is from input from RCA jack, not from AM/FM/XM.
Or you can have both like my TACO, use option 1 for Front Camera and option 2 for others.
I only do option 2 online for our members due to materials availability and easy plug and play. If you are near me, I can help you to do both.
