Wasn't trying to sound snooty. It's just that it's such a common acronym in the aviation industry, I guess it caught me off guard that an engineer wasn't familiar with it.

It is definitely common in in the aviation and military.I hate telling people I am a non destructive fluorescent penetrant inspector for a land base turbine company lol. So I keep it short and tell them I am a inspector.

Yeah. Some companies have a thing for words. I've been a New Center Development Opening Manager, a Quality Assurance Equipment Validation Analyst, and am now the Director of Metrology and Validation. Fancy words for shitty pay. lol

Haha, yeah, the military and the aviation industry are pretty much the world's worst offenders for having acronyms for EVERYTHING. It was kinda of a running joke that you could make whole statements using only acronyms.

You just do dye pen, or do you do eddy current, x-ray and all that other good stuff? When I worked in ATL in heavy overhaul, they'd shut down a whole bay, put up crime scene tape, and we end up farmed out to other bays...maybe even another hanger...while they x-rayed parts of the aircraft.

 

I have been doing dye penetrant for 10 years now and will test for level 3 cert in the near future. I will get my level 2 certs in x-ray and ultrasonic than proceed to become level 3 certified all at my companies expense. It will be cheaper to certify me than to sub contract.

I also manage equipment qualification for all of our facilities, provide statistical data pertaining to reactive viral marker testing (HIV, HCV, HBV) to US and international regulatory agencies, manage tracking and trending of critical control point failures, and am system administrator of our regulated document management and change control platforms.

 

Common occurrence in the welding field as well. We have since scheduled the NDT testers to come after first shift gets off, so it doesn't slow us down.

 

Whenever you guys want. I decided to hold off on the ecgs bushing. All I have to do is change out both front wheel bearings which is pretty simple. I got the preassembled ones from a member on here
