I've got a '17 Sport with the stock 265/65/R17 Toyo A30 tires. While I love the look of the more aggressive looking tires like KO2s and Wildpeaks, I have to admit that they aren't great fits for my needs since I'm mostly driving on highways and other paved surfaces.

I was wondering if anyone has stuck with highway tires (such as the Michelin AT2s or any others) but has gone with the larger 265/70/R17 size? I was thinking that a slightly bigger tire and extra 1/2 inch in ride height might give my Sport a little more aggressive stance without forgoing the benefits of a tire designed for highway driving. Thanks!

i've been running the cooper AT/P tires in the 265/75/16 (same diameter as your looking to go). I just ordered the Michelin Defenter LTX in a 265/75/16. I went back to the HT mainly for a quieter ride and better fuel effeciency. I rarely go off road so i really don't have a reason for AT tires.

Check out my thread. I wanted the same kind of tires you’re describing.

Just curious how are these Continentals holding up?

I've had continental winter tires before and they were terrific, these don't appear to have the snowflake winter service rating and seem to be all season as opposed to all weather.

I'd be curious what the impact of the slight size increase has on your mpg

Cooper ATW's, basically AT3's with more siping for winter.

Well I’ve only had them for a week so can’t comment on wear yet. They are absolutely awesome on wet roads. It’s rained almost every day since I got them. They claim to be all terrain but don’t look very aggressive. They are really quiet and I absolutely like that. No experience yet in the snow so can’t say how they will do. The last road tire I had was Michelin LTX in the stock size and my speedometer was off by 2 to 3 mph so I went larger with these. I can’t make a fair comparison on mpg because I was running Duratracs when I got these so no surprise that I’m getting better numbers.

By far the best highway tires you can get are michelin defenders. For nearly the same performance but a lot less expensive are Kuhmo Crugens. I've only read about the Crugens but I've had defenders on my truck for several years now. Great tire on road, not bad at all in the snow and great everywhere else.

No doubt the Michelins are great tires. I was unable to wear them out when I had them before they started to rot. Threw them away with at least 10k of tread remaining. Just don’t put enough miles on to justify the high price. Saved a couple hundred with the continentals and they look a little more like truck tires too. Time will tell.

Thanks guys for all the insight and suggestions. I've gone back and forth on this and have come full circle back to the Falken Wildpeak AT3W's in the 265/70/R17 size. From what I've read they seem to have good manners on the highway but also have the more aggressive tread and sidewall that I'm looking for. I've seen enough positive testimonials on them to feel comfortable that my driving experience won't be downgraded from switching to these.

let me know how the wildpeaks fit, I bought a set and when they mounted one on my stock 2017 sport wheel they said they were too wide and would probably rub the uca.
